DH-Comet
Anyone see her in the MAN mag? Looks like 88" wingspan arf. Only scary part is that it's coming from Global Hobbies. Love that race plane!

RE: DH-Comet
We've got a couple flying downunder, sold under a different brand name. One is powered by twin Electric Brushless Outrunners. They fly well.

RE: DH-Comet
Manfred,
Did the ad mention who will be selling the Comet for Global (Hobby People ?)? Thanks, Paul |
RE: DH-Comet
Global is owned by Hobby People. Therefore it is a pretty good bet that Hobby People will be selling it, along with all the other Global dealers.

RE: DH-Comet
No, the Global version is 88" wingspan, built up wood with "plastic" fuselage skins.
Should be interesting. Jim |
RE: DH-Comet
I saw this both in Hobby People advertising flier, and in Model airplane News. It's gorgeous, but for the $$$ requested, I'd like to know more about Advanced Scale Models, and how good the fit and finish is. I'm already thinking of a second .56 Saito and sticking a pair of them in this thing.

RE: DH-Comet
Google caught the part number in their cache...

I have one with a 108"
Wing span that I purchased from Richard Crapp in England about 10 years ago I have it on the gear and need to finish it. I too love the plane but as all of us know other planes come along and I tend to jump around. I went to see the man himself as he had built one full size for the U.S. Dave |

It appears the Hobby People search links change from time to time.

RE: DH-Comet
If I were to ever have a "twin" I do believe THIS WOULD BE THE ONE!! Its beautiful.
I wonder what kind of retracts it uses/Needs??? Anyone know? I www.hobbypeople.net says that it has retracts optional. No mention of what kind though(?) Twin AX .46 would be a great dependable pait for this baby!! Pitts muffs a must. Kevin |
RE: DH-Comet
they have the retracts, do a serch for "comet" and they come up, they are kind of pricy though $$$

RE: DH-Comet
I was in my local Hobby People last week, and they had one on the shelf! Oh, was I tempted!! It was still in the outer cardboard shipping box, and it is in a big, and I mean big box. For that reason, I did not ask them to take it down and open it up. I literally had to drag myself fighting against myself out of that store so I would not buy it. I went back two days later, and it was gone. Someone in the San Fernando Valley has one already! Even though their website still says backordered.
|
RE: DH-Comet
Just got an email from Hobby people, the comet is in stock!!! but the retracts $229.99 and struts $24.99 are still on order .
|
RE: DH-Comet
$229.00 for retracts????? Just 2 of them????? PLUS......Struts @$25.00??? Man. Thats near $550.00 for a .40 sized arf.
I gotta have one!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUT....D A N G !!!!!!!!! For the cost........ I guess its all in what you want. I don't think there will be a pile of them at the field though! I would think it would fly well. I love the Flaps included. I may have to get one just because its a PYLON RACER and the SOUND of 2 motors running in sequence....oh yea...niiiiiiiiiice. Who's getting one first???????? pics pics pics!!!!!!!! I'm interested in these elusive retracts?!!??!! Kev |

RE: DH-Comet
Our local hobby shop has one. The guys are great, they wouldn't let me leave the store until I viewed the kit. Nice! The fuse is extremely light and has semi-scale rivets. The fuselage looks like its made of plastic, but they said it was fiberglass. The fuse is reinforced with carbon fiber strips running longitudinally. Wings and stabs are fully sheeted. This plane is light, I believe the advertised 52 FS's will fly it scale (race plane scale - fast!).
Retracts there a $200. Really nice plane! |
RE: DH-Comet
Hi Randy:
Do you think it would be cool with electric? Dave ORIGINAL: RandyD Our local hobby shop has one. The guys are great, they wouldn't let me leave the store until I viewed the kit. Nice! RE: DH-Comet
Dave,
This plane would be very cool in electric! It's definitely light enough to absorb any weight penalty for batteries (if there is one). If I buy one it will be OS 52 FS. It would be a shame to put oil slobbering 2 strokes in her though. Randy |
RE: DH-Comet
$550, is not bad for a twin arf with an 88 in wing span and retracts. Thats in line with the KMP twins. There's just so many great planes out right now that I don't know which one to get. My fleet is already too large as it is.
