Laser 2000

I'm just moving up to larger scale and buying a laser 2000 from Kangke. Do I need special serveros or will the standard servos (537 from JR) work? Also this will be my first gas engine, is there a good one for this plane and good for a newbie. (only been flying since Feb)

thanks

I have a friend who has the laser 2000 and it is a great plane i would suggest Brison or Taurus , fox, fpe 3.2 gas they are great motors my favorite being the Taurus 3.2 my friend had the fpe2.4 and its not quite enough motor it flys it scale but nothing extra. The Taurus motors you have to place a order and it takes 30 days from reciept of payment to get the motor produced but well worth the weight. They along with all the rest i mention all run around 550 to 600 in price. All have C/H sycrospark ignition and its hard to beat. As far as servos i would go with Hitec 625s or 645s on your system. They are compatable with all radio systems and are cheaper in price to buy I get mine from Chief Aircraft out of Grants Pass Oregon. they run around 38 bucks and if you place a order for over 250 bucks they have free shipping. Dont try and use standard servos for this bird it weighs in around 16lbs finished. Put the servos in the tail and it should balance out good with a 3.2 good luck Bruce S

I also have a Laser 2000 and agree that you need better servos than the 537's. I fly with a BME 50 and it seems to be a great match for 3D

I reviewed this plane a couple months ago. It is awesome. I used a ZDZ 60 and Hitec digital servos.

In my opinion, you could go with a little less motor (like a 50cc) and still get awesome performance. I would not use standard servos on anything but the throttle.

You could use Hitec 605's. They would work ok, but the rudder should have more power like a 645mg.

The 5625 and 5645 digitals are awesome and not too expensive.

Let me know if you have any more questions

I agree with Eric you could use the BME 50 i forgot to mention that motor in my view of motors it is a great power to weight ratio motor. I also agree the hitec digitals 5600 series are great servos i have the 5625s installed in a 1/3 scale Lanier Laser on ailerons and they are super , center great and have had no problem with them at all.

Well the Laser is in and I went with the FPE 3.2, hitec 5625 all around except the rudder, 5645. Was wondering if I should consider looking into the carbon fiber wing tube, front and rear gear? or should I just go ahead and build it first to see what the final weight comes to.
Suggestions are always welcome as this will be my first giant/gas plane.

thanks
steve

Just build it, they fly great just the way they are, although I recommend a different tailwheel assembly. For your first flights use a Pro Zinger 22/8 with that engine and don't forget to use your left thumb on the down lines. :D
