Best small ARF?
Thinking of buying a new small ARF, I have an unused .15 engine and I am considering buying the Magnum .30 on sale. So choices are the Sportsman Aero Princess, Model Tech Mini Magic Extra, the Model Tech T6, and the Polk Hobbies Dr1 Fokker Tri Plane. Anyone try any of these?

RE: Best small ARF?
I have a Modeltech Extra Sport 30 and with a GMS .32 it's smokin hot and a real pleasure to fly. Not for a beginner but as a second or third low wing a great little airplane.

Not small enouth, needs to fly well with a .15 two stroke or .30 four stroke. I think that would be marginal with the .30 four stroke.

RE: Best small ARF?
The Herr extra for the norvel ,074 would be fine for a .15...Rog

RE: Best small ARF?
The Herr Extra may be good. But I am not going to pay $100 for such a small ARF! Not for something so ordinary as an Extra. A Fokker yes, but not an Extra.

RE: Best small ARF?
the polk dr1 i have flies great. it has an eflite 15 motor with a 40 amp esc, and an eflite 2100mah lipo battery. needed alot of weight up front. i think around 10 ounces. flies very smooth and has no bad characteristics. even bought a second one, but it's going to be powered by an o.s. 15. the polk dr1 is a great inexpensive, easy to build kit.

a lazy bee is great for a .15 or a .30 4stroke. I tried both and both work fine.

You might want to check out their web page. Cute little rascals. |

The best for a 15 is the hirobo CAP 232 or the Extra 300. It'll fly fine... for the 30 magnum the best plane is the WM Cub .26. Best small plane in the world! kekkekekkekk

RE: Best small ARF?
Leaning toward a kit now. Thinking of building either the Hobby Hanger Gee Bee, or the House of Balso P-51 for the Magnum .30. Since writing this I bought a Global Aero Princess for the .15 several months ago, just before they ran out. Haven't had time to do more than open the box since then.

Pick up one of those Pica 1/12th scale warbirds....with a .15 they would fly very nice. I had a P-51 w/ a .10 and it was VERY nice....

I bought an Aero Princess from [link=http://www.hobbywarehouse.com/Sportsman_Aviat_Aero_Princess_15_ARF_Aerobatic_Pla _p/127505.htm]Hobby Warehouse[/link], and I put it together with an old Enya .15 IV. Good deal for only $60! Haven't flown it yet...looking forward to it!!

RE: Best small ARF?
Wondering if a .25 sized Gee Bee would be too much for a Magnum .30?

RE: Best small ARF?
i'm sure it'll be fine with that magnum but i'm not sure if you'd want that magnum to begin with. i have a magnum that is indefinitely grounded because it just wasn't made very well. if i were to put the magnum 30 on any plane, it would be one with a very low wing loading that could easily glide in after an engine out.
i have this plane... i'm going with a Saito 40 or 45. good luck! |
RE: Best small ARF?
I have several ASP's (same as magnum) that do just fine. I also have the Magnum .30 four stroke and it does fine as well. I really didn't want biased information on engine's. You sure you are talking about the samp plane? This one has a very small wing, I think you would have to add about a half pound of tail weight with a .45.

RE: Best small ARF?
The Rogue Biplane by Fliton comes with a motor mount for a .15 motor. The plane is a little expensive at 120.00 but its built up & is a great flyer.
