Pilatus Porter Engine?

LOOKING FOR SUGGESTIONS FOR ENGINE SIZE FOR THIS ARF?
IT HAS A 32 INCH WS AND IS 27 INCHES LONG. THE INSTRUCTIONS CALL FOR A SPEED 400 DIRECT BUT I WOULD LIKE TO PUT A SMALL GAS ENGINE ON IT. ANY IDEAS ON ENGINE AND SERVO SIZE?

Glow

I can't imagine the plane can handle much more than a .015 to .020 size glow eng.

Helio gas

Rustyace where did you find this kit? I've been looking for a small
Helio for a while.
It would be a shame to have to chop up the nose to install a gas motor. Keep it electric. A astro 05 geared would fly this with authority!
let us know how it flies.

I think you should stick to the tiniest servos, like Hitec 50 or 55's. It would run on anything from a Cox .010 to an 049, depending on how low you keep the weight. An 049 would need a throttle if i was flying :)

If it was my plane, I would put a 300 motor and turn a 3:1 7" prop with 700 MAh AAA NiMH 7 cell. And a 10A or better ESC too. It would climb just fine, realistically too. At 32 span the area is probably around 150-200 sq in and might weigh 10-12 oz. Wing loadings would be from 7 to 12 oz/sf. I would drop the battery to less than 500 MAh if I wasnt happy with 12 oz/sf performance.

If I had a throttled 010, I would use 4.8v 700 MAh AAA NiMH reciever battery or lighter and keep the weight way low. I would guess you could hold it to below 7 oz and have a GREAT flyer.

PILATUS

I FOUND THIS PLANE ON EBAY A FEW WEEKS AGO. I REALLY DONT KNOW ABOUT ELECTRIC SET-UPS FOR THIS PLANE AND REALLY APPRECIATE THE INFORMATION. IM LOOKING FOR ALL THE SMALL GAS EQUIPMENT FOR THIS PLANE IF ANYONE HAS A SMALL ENGINE FOR IT THAT INCLUDES A THROTLE? IF IT BECOMES TOO BIG OF A PROJECT FOR ME, IT MIGHT SOON BE UP FOR SALE.
IM AM USE TO BIGGER GAS PLANES AND NOT THESE SMALLER PLANES.

Thunder Tiger makes a GP-07 (i think) which I have used in a couple of planes when I wanted to replace a speed 400. I agree that putting a glow in the nose would goober it up. The other thing you have to consider is the balance. A glow engine and tank of glow fuel will affect the balance quite a bit with that long nose of the Turbo Porter.

With electric, nothing changes as you deplete the battery.

Who is the maker of this kit? I can't get the picture to expand so I can see the details.

Thanks!!!!

VMAR IS THE DISTRIBUTOR OF THAT BEAUTY. USE A NORVEL .061
AND MICRO SERVOS 250MAH BATTERY. A SPEED 400 IS MORE OR LESS THE SAME POWER OF A .049 BUT LIGTHER BECAUSE YOU DONT USR BATTERY PACK SO THE WINGLOADING IS LOWER. IT SHOULD FLYS VERY WELL ON A NORVEL.
