Hobbico Spectrum?
 

Does anyone know why Hobbico is no longer advertizing the Spectrum ARF? I have recently finished building this plane and am waiting for descent weather to make its maiden flight. Anyone have experience with this model?

It's probably being dropped for thr Venus. I enjoyed mine. The gear blocks were not glued in well, so I added some epoxy. I sealed the hinge gaps with clear tape. I ended up with my CG aft of the recommended place. It flies nice, and can do really graceful manuvers. It takes a while to bleed off speed on approach, so set up pretty far out, or be prepared to go around. Many people had real trouble with this plane, but mine was fine after the gear block thing...

I recently saw a ad in one of the major rc publications advertising the Spectrum. So if they've discontinued it, they are doing a really poor job of hiding it. I too am just finishing mine. Mine will have mechanical retracts and a OS 46FX up front with a tuned pipe. I like the airplane all except for the absolutely horrible job of covering i.e.: ends of ailerons not covered, top and bottom of rudder-no covering and on and on. With the onset of our lovely Wisconsin winters, it looks like it will be spring before it flies. I also have the Venus with a Irvine 53 waiting to test the open skies. Its going to be a looooooonng winter.

I agree on the covering, so I added CA on the ends to seal. I can't see GP keeping the Spectrum and the Venus. Is the Spectrum in the 2003 catalog? I'll bet not. The remaining ads are probably to sell back stock.

Your original post has been a long time on RC Universe. I love HOBBICO's SPECTRUM. My first one I bought 2001 and it still flies great. My second one I crashed yesterday due to a radio failure at a slow pass. Well, I'm desperade looking for a new one Spectrum. Do you know where can I find one??
