Can anyone identify this model???

A Friend from my club just gave me two of these aircraft . He bought out an estate and they were part of the package. :D

neither he nor I can identify them. :( They seem to have been around for a long while. The wing is balsa over foam and the fuse is mostly sheet balsa. Anyone have any clue?

Thanks for any help.

Does the horzonal stabilizer have a drope? I am sure that is a "Curare'" (like the poison) designed and flown by Hanno Prettner in world class pattern events. Was flown on a .60 which was the engine size limit back then. I had several of them and they were great flyers for the time.

Could also be an "Atlas" flown by Wolfgang Matt in the same time frame. A dead givaway would be droped horizontal stab. The Curare', I beleive, was the only pattern plane to utilize this feature.

I hate to disagree but I believe it could be a Tiporary-They also had the drooped stab and looked a lot like this-Great Planes and Dick Hanson both built these kits. The GP had a larger WS-64" I think. Since you say the fuse is balsa, my money is that it is a Dick Hanson kit. If you could get Dick's attention--(he is here on RCU a lot) I am sure he verify or deny. I had the GP. Of course I could be wrong..........(and I have been in the past).........by the way, does your friend have any more he want to give away?--I need friends like that!

This is what I found when searching the Curare.http://www.singahobby.com/images/MK/curare60.jpg everything looks simular except the foward fuse and cowling.

Drope  I am not familiar with the term. Would that mean a negitive Dihedrial on the Horzontal stab? If so then yes the empanage droops.

Oh, Duhh Droops. I got ya now.

P.S. the Duhh is for me!! I am usually the one who requires spell check. :D

The model -being a wooden fuselage --is --I think - one built from Model Builder plans of 1979- for the Tiporare.
I did those , for guys who like to build for themselves.
The Tipos we sold were also made by GreatPlanes (they paid a royalty to me ). Always glass fuselages)
There were a number of varients :
Tiporare , Tipo750 , Hippo Tippo (825) ,Tipo Surpass.
There were a lot of em sold /built from 1976- 1990. Into the thousands actually
They were, in all candor - basically the H Prettner type layout -with anhedral stabs -for the earlier ones - later on we changed the stab position and made it w/o anhedral.
We sold off all fixtures etc - years back -

I was thinking that Dave Brown was the one that kind of started the anhedral stab deal. Maybe not, my memory isn't what it used to be. I also thought that he designed the Curare. If not, what was the plane he always flew?

I believe that the Curare is a Hanno design. Did this model ever come as an ARF? I think the plans are available from MAN...
