I would recommend the Kaos but then, I have a thing for that particular plane.

They are both great planes.

The Four Star is a better casual plane

The Kaos is better for pattern

Enjoy yourself,

Jim

Kaos would be my personal first choice, but you can't go wrong with the 4*.

HitecMan,

In the St. Louis are 4*'s are pylon raced by several clubs - either the stock kit or ARF w/o wheel pants and a ST G-40. We race them since they fly great, you don't have to spend a fortune to compete, and since everything is on equal footing - it's all up to piloting skills.

Here's our club site: http://www.spiritsofstl.com/

KAOS is faster given the same engine.

RE: Koas? Fourstar?

As everyone noted, the Kaos and Four Star are both excellent planes. You might also consider the Tiger 2, which flies mudh like the four star, and has a tricycle landing gear. I have had all three (still flying the Kaos) and have really liked all of them. You might want to consider the GP Easy Sport. It is an excellent plane, and although maybe a little bit closer to a trainer than the others, it can be quite aerobatic. My friend flew his Easy Sport for a long time, and then, believe it or not, advanced directly to a Spitfire, with no trouble. Fortunately, 40 sized sports planes are in abundance, and so many are good flyers (also worth mentioning are the super sportster, and the Goldberg Skylark. I am also flying the senior falcon, a wonderful airplane, but don't necessarily recommend it since it really requires a change in the dehidral, which is kind of a pain.

All the other models mentioned are nice flying sport planes. The Kaos is a sport pattern plane, and is a much smoother, more precise aerobatic airplane than any of the other models. I highly recommend the Kaos.

two good planes and two different styles..I learned pattern on a kaos and am still fond of it.a great pattern .if you could get a joe bridi one which of course is next to impossible you would own a fantastic plane.smooth and relatively easy to fly.the other plane works well as a sunday flyer..cant really go wrong either way.but I must admit with all my large planes and aerobatic stuff I still have a soft spot for a kaos especially the super kaos..

RE: Koas? Fourstar?

The Kaos has one thing that is sorely lacking in the Four * Forty - an effective rudder without a terrible amount of roll coupling. I like both planes and have both planes, but if I had to choose just one, it would be the Kaos 40 ARF.

agreed!

Bluejay Airplane Kits is kitting some of the Bridi kits including several of the Kaos versions.

Not ARF's tho...

I would get the 4* because of your smallish engine. The 4* is lightweight floater, can be very aerobatic, or gentle as a *****cat. Do you want tricycle gear or taildragger?

The 4* 60's are sold out unil Feb or March. I'm not sure about the 4* 40's.

RE: Koas? Fourstar?

Huh, you got a Fazer and are going to build the kit? They can fly nice but the technology is 10 years old now. Best of luck and have fun!

Ernie
