Reversing "Y"
 

Has anyone had any problems with a reversing "Y" using a 6 volt battery?

Never used a Reversing "Y" harness. If I need a servo to be reversed I always have it reversed inside when I buy it. I think they are more reliable that way.

yes the one from maxx's hobbies will glitch out bad on 6 volts.i had to run a 5.7 reg on my old one.now i just reverse one on the programer

The one had would change trim in flight. This made landing lots of fun as it was on the elevator half and only the right half would change. I don't think the voltage was the problem. I just wont use another one.

The early models of MPI's servo reversing Y would not work on 6V. I think they corrected this on the later models.

I believe the problem is a bit more than just the 'y' itself.
When the 6v is fresh, its peak voltage can be a bit higher than 6v, causing problems w/the servo.
The simple solution is to install a 6v regulator between the switch and reciever. (if you mount between switch and batt. it will always drain your bat after sitting awhile - it draws a very small amount of curent to operate)

A guy at my field had a H9 1.5 Cessna 182, and was at his wits end. He replaced servos, he re-routed the Rx, he was bumbed out, - the damn flaps would go crazy, not center, one would go to full deflection. he wanted to fly w/ flaps but knew he coulnt with that kind of problem. I ran home, grabed a spare regulator - told him to try this - vwalla! problem solved! He was so appreciative he let me take a few laps with the 182! It always feels good to help someone who really really really needed it!
