Has anyone else had a problem with the horizontals being loose fore and aft because they are not tight against the root when the screws are installed? Is some play in this assembly normal? Doesn't seem like this is a good thing. I'm considering epoxying the whole darn thing together.

Makeing the tail permanent is my plan all along. WHat I don't need is the screws coming loose and having the plane strip like a belly dancer.

Geistware, Got a visual from your words, it wasn't pretty. But seriously, was your tail loose also though?

Not sure exactly what you mean but mine is very tight. after 16 flights no problem. I would contact GP and get some new tubes If i were you. I could'nt store mine with the stabs on

smallfly, (great name,by the way) when i push the stabs into the tubes and install the screws, they aren,t dead tight against the root. I,ll have to do some sort of shimming with thin ply or maybe silicon like you would a wing saddle etc. Just wondered if others were running into this sich.

I am in the process of constructing mine and with the phillip head screws, I don't see that lasting more than 30-50 times. I am wondering how to make the connection more secure. I have been thinking about socket head hex screws but I don't know. Making it permanent is the bet solution. (I think)

I'm in the process of finishing one up for a customer. The stabs are on tight, but I agree w/ geistware that the setup doesn't seem durable, so I locktited the screws in and will recommend that the customer NOT remove the stabs.

If it were my personal bird, I would just epoxy the whole mess in and deal w/ the transportation problems. After all, that's why Gd made trucks and vans for, right?? :D
