I plan to put a BME 44cc into my world models extra 80". Is it capable of going vertical from hovering position? What is the total flying weight with this engines. Thanks.

Just received my BME 50 yesterday. The total weight with J&A Pitts muffler, spark plug, and C&H Ignition is 3 pounds 13 oz.

Great engines, but I would go with the BME 50 instead of the 44. You will not be dissapointed.

seduction2001:

I think everyone here assumes that you do not have an engine yet.

Do you already have a BME 44? Is this why you are looking to put this engine in your plane?

I have two opinions:

If you already have the 44, you will not be dissapointed. It will fly the plane great and pull out of a hover with no problems. There is no need to sell what you have and go buy a 50, however.....

If you do not have the 44, and are looking at the 44 as a possibility, then the only reason NOT to go with the 50 is because you may be able to get the 44 used for considerably less money.

If I was starting with no engine, I agree, I would put a 50 in there. I have noticed one pop up on RCU every now and then for a good price.

I have a 44 and love the engine. I like the way BME engines run, I also have the 102, great engines!

Another alternative to the BME 50 is the ZDZ 50. Tremendous power and light weight and good price new, but you will have to deal with the rear induction carb when mounting.

Good luck!
