ESM (KMP) Seafury

1 Attachment(s)
Just finished the ESM or KMP arf Seafury. With a Saito 120 for power, I had to add 0.6Kg(22oz) lead upfront to get it balanced. This brought the wingloading to 32oz/sq ft which is more than the recommended 27oz/sq ft. On test flying the tail seemed to be still heavy and I had to trim in more down elevator. With landing it came in quite fast and full flaps were activated. This caused the seafury to land, nose overing. Anybody with experience on this model and how to land this aircraft without scratching the cowl? [&o]

I fly the KMP September Fury which is basically the same plane in a different color. I have a Saito 180 in mine I also had to add a fair bit of lead, but it flies like a dream.
Have a look at the video.

It lands as sweet as anything, just remember dont come off the elevator until she has come to a complete standstill, the CG should be 110 to 115 mm from the straight part of the leading edge.

Thanks I will try to hold that elevator up next Time! When using flaps do you compensate by feeding some down elevator in the airbrake mixer (I am using a Futaba 7uap Radio). I had about 20% down elevator mixed with flaps. Maybe this was too much and that is why I had a noseover.

I cant remember how much I had mixed in I do know it is nothing like 20%, it would be some thing like a couple of degrees. I would suggest take it all out and then during the next flight put your flaps in and throttle down as if for landing, get a mate to monitor how much elevator you are holding for a level flight, then program the same amount in mixed with the flaps once you have landed. She will landing quite happily without flaps just a longer approach and landing.
