Tiger2 main gear
What landing gear can I use to convert my tiger 2 ARF to a tail dragger I have a set of mains for a ultra sick 40 that is pretty close the Goldberg set is not available from tower
I am going to use a sullivan tailwheel setup thanks for any info. Greg |
RE: Tiger2 main gear
Any main gear that will fit and give you enough prop clearance will work fine. The wheels should come out barely ahead of the leading edge. If they are too far foreward, the plane will want to wander on takeoff and bounce on landing. Best of luck..... will this be your 1st taildragger?

RE: Tiger2 main gear
just finished one up a few weeks ago and fixin to start another for someone else. we used this gear from tower hobbies.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXCFR7&P=0 it worked out just fine and we added some wheel pants to it and really changed the looks of the whole plane, on the ground and in the air. take a look at this gear, the width and height are perfect. |
RE: Tiger2 main gear
Greg -- It would appear that Tower has the Golderg gear in stock according to thier web site.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHBP8&P=7 The landing gear that pittsman suggested will work just as well -- I used the Goldberg gear because I liked the glassed filled resin gear --Mark |

We have a glass-filled nylon version that works well.

RE: Tiger2 main gear
I used an old fiberglass landing gear from an ACE Bingo (40 to 60 size) I think thats where it came from anyway the mounting plate sticks out 3/16ths on each side. I covered it with a self stick monokote trim sheet it matches the plane very well HOWEVER I think it will bubble once it get out in the sun. I have the plane almost finished exept for the engine and fuel tank.
Now the bad news the right aileron is completely unusable it is so badly warped along the leading edge that when it is placed against the TE the center touches and the ends have a 1/4in gap on both sides it is also warped along from end to end. |
RE: Tiger2 main gear
Yikes, call them up and demand a new aileron! ?
