u-can-do 60, use a cline or what?
Boy ,so many post on this plane and I still could not figure out if there was a popular vote on the high tank and enverted four stroke issue. I am putting a saito 100 in one just to play with, I like to watch 3-d but have not tried it yet. Thanks for any replys, Glenn. |
RE: u-can-do 60, use a cline or what?
Glenn,
I have a UCD 60 with Saito 1.00 mounted inverted. I have a Great Planes fueler on it...no pumps, no regulators. The tank is in the stock location. When I first started flying it I was worried about it siphoning fuel while sitting, etc. I can let it sit fully fueled, throttle closed with no problems. I have had no problems with it leaning or richening in flight but I run it on the rich side top end. It idles well with no issues. Good luck. JLK |

Hi jlkonn, thanks for your reply, That takes a load off my mind, may I ask where did you mount your fueler in relation to the tank level? And when filling the tank how do you know when it's full? Thanks again for your help and would you mind if I would send you a pm. needed ? I can usually work things out, so I will not be bugging you all the time. Thanks , Glenn. |
RE: u-can-do 60, use a cline or what?
My fueler is mounted roughly 3" below the centerline of the tank...right near the bottom edge of the fuse.
I know the tank is full when the fuel overflows out the tank vent line which is attached to the muffler. The muffler is pointed straight down so I am not overflowing back in to the engine. JLK |
RE: u-can-do 60, use a cline or what?
The key to preventing siphoning in some engines, as jlkonn mentioned, is make sure you can completely close the throttle from the transmitter. That means that if the carb has a throttle barrel stop screw the screw should be backed out until it does not limit the travel of the carb barrel.
Just like yours, one of my UCD's has an inverted Saito 1.00 without any pumps, valves, or regulators and is trouble free. |
