The skin comming off my top wing saved my plane. :) I was triming off the old skin and noticed some movement in the wings. Gave a slight pull and the left strut pulled out of the wing. Checked the right side and it was bad too. Epoxied them back in place.

Note to self; DO BETTER JOB ON PRE-FLIGHT CHECKS

Good thing I dont fly full size aircraft :)

Yeah the thin wood used in the strut to wing mounting area is far too weak for the G's this plane can pull.

It is advisable not only to re-epoxy this area, but to add a bit of additional support.

Even a tiny piece of balsa would work wonders.

The center carbane mount is pretty good on the NP version, even though it is missing the crossmember.

The dual screws add more stability and resistance to movement.

Has anyone added smoke to the NP Ultimate?

I was considering doing this, but decided against it because of all of the additional weight and the space needed for the tank.

I may do it for the 120R though.

Went out yesterday. Was very cold and windy. I flew my P-51 twice and my Ultimate 3 times. The third flight I was bringing it in and at about 7 foot the wind got it and slamed it nose in the ground.

Could be rebuilt but I think its time to finish my Great Planes Ultimate and have it ready for spring.

Might have to try the Nitro Planes Bobcat jet. That is a cool looking plane. Should scream with my .61 on it.

Lanny just got my bobcat yesterday. Started working on her 2night. This is my first nitro model plane and it is a well built plane. I also have one of the 120 ulitmate on the way. But I will be doing the bobcat 1st. Also putting an 61 on it
