For Those Flying the Pacific Aero Gee Bee
Are you still loving to fly this bird. Does it maintain its "wow" factor when you take it to the field. Anyone flying it with a 20+cc series gasser, how is it doing? I am still thinking about one of these for an MVVS 1.60 Gasser I got.

Splais, Yes it still has its WOW FACTOR Ive got a 33cc and would recommend finding a way to mount the wheel paints to the landing gear.

Wheel pants?
Rev,
what is the problem you are having with the wheel pants. I have just started mine. There is absolutely no way to mount the pants to the wire axles in this plane. Also what engine are you using. I expect my MVVS 1.60 to be an adequate, but not wild performer in this plane. Steve |

Splais, The wheel paints will crack like a egg shell, they are not flexible enough. The motor is a homelite 33cc turning a 20x8 dynathrust @ 6800. I'm going to try to mount the paints to the wire somehow this winter.I rec a 20in prop Ive tried 18in It works but no thrill. Do a search and see what other people are using to power the plane, most will say its under powered.

I reinforced my wheel pants with fiberglass cloth and epoxy. We will see how they hold up. the MVVS is a great performer for it's size. We'll have to see how it does in this bird.

Splais:
Going to ordered a new set of wheel pants also, for mine..Am planning, as you will do, to reinforce the pants with fiberglass cloth...they are paper thin..also am fling mine with a G-23, 17-6 APC prop...Flys good, but does need a little more power..A new G-26w/ ignition will replace the G-23..same mounting holes as the G-23...won't fly sometime until next spring..have to get in line for the new G-26...going like hot cakes...just my 2 cents worth..... |
