Phoenix dolphin Tower .46 Combo

Hello all,

I recently ordered this combo from towerhobbies and was reading the reviews on the towerhobbies .46 engine. It seems to be a hit or miss engine. It also seems to get great ratings when broken in properly. Since I'm a noob at rc aircraft, I was wondering what exactly entails properly breaking in a new engine? I have the 10x7 recommended prop for break-in.

Thanks,

-Chris

You Are going to get a lot of different responses to this I don't claim to be an expert but I have had good results with this method. I strictly use Power master 15% heli Mix It has a higher Oil content 1st Remove the glow plug and at a few drops of fuel down the hole spin motor over by hand. repeat a couple of times. the most ( i am an about mechanic by trade and the most wear on a car engine occurs when you first start them lack of lube as the oil has drained down) I always assumed same was true of model engines. Run it rich about 1 and 1/2 turns out on the main jet. You may have to leave the glow igniter on for it to run. I run it for about 3-5 minuets at about 1/2 throttle. let it cool repeat 4-5 times. This is were people are going to flame me I fly the plane rich about 2 turns out on the main for a gallon of fuel and don't fly the plane to hard try to stay at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle if you need to save the plane by all means wide open. I like this method for two reasons I am to impatient to break the motor in on a test stand only and you get the feel for your plane before you get to crazy with it. Hope this helps And for those of you who disagree with this method be gentle with you rebukes
