Thunder Tiger Lazy Tiger P51
 

Hi guys,
I am living in a limited space and i really don't enjoy electric so i was looking for a small nitro field flyer. So i stumbled across this plane on tower. I am limited on money so I was woundering first is this a good flyer. second if a LA 25 could carry it. Any info would be greatly apperciated.

The only one I've been around had a Thunder Tiger 36 engine. It was a great flyer

HitecMan - first, i'm also a hitech man! i love my eclipse 7 but am waiting desperately for a replacement as mine is really showing it's age.

the TT lazy tiger would be undpowered with a LA25 but not unreasonably so. it would still fly fine but not really great for sport flying. i had a 32SX on mine and i think it was about right. for a LA25, i'd choose another plane... the CMP (GSP) baby cap 232 comes to mind. i had a 32SX on it and it was wonderful. that would be a great plane for you.

Thanks would a LA 40 be too much? or too much weight

I flew another flyer's lazy tiger P51 with a 40la - it flew similar to one with a 32sx on it. The 40la is ok on it but you may need larger wheels to help with prop ground clearance - that flight was a couple years ago.

I flew one for most of a summer with the saito 30. It flew ok but not very exciting. Installed a TT 42 bushing engine and then it was "FUN".

i have a lazy tiger P 51 with an AXI 2620/12 and a 4400ma lipo and 40 amp Jeti controller. it is incredable- fast , agile , and it just rips out on grass runway take offs. stopped flying after 18 min. and still had a lot of battery left.. evreyone in our club is amazed..plus no oily goo.....

i think the minimum for the Lazy Tiger to do sport flying is the 32SX or the 40LA. fourstrokes 45 and up.

but if you're looking for "lazy flying", since it's not meant to fly really fast, a 25FX or a 40 saito would be okay. a 30 saito would be very lazy unless you're using like 30 coolpower.

Hitec,

I just flew my Lazy Tiger today with a 40LA engine. Flies great and will do great vertical. Plus, I didn't need to put any additional weight anywhere and it still glides in for landings. I've got an 11X5 Master Airscrew prop on it but don't have an RPM yet. I really like this plane. Had several guys at the field asking about it. If you're good with throttle control, the 46 LA is the same case as the 40 but like someone already said, watch your prop size. I put a little larger wheel on it and as long as the field isn't bumpy or you have a paved runway, you'll be fine. I walk mine to the runway and place it on the smoothest section I can find since we've got grass. I've got an Evolution trainer three-bladed prop I'd like to try once I get a little more fuel through it. Hoping it will look just a little more realistic than the dual prop and it's about a 1/4 inch shorter on the blades.

Hope you like your Lazy Tiger as much as l like mine. :D

When I got my Lazy Tiger, had a Saito 30, & a Saito 40, each looking for a home. I decided on the 30. (9500 RPMs on 10% nitro, with 11x5 MAS prop. It flys nice, good level flight speed, loops from level flight, & does mild aerobatics ok, runs for 17 min. at "full tilt, on the supplied tank; BUT, verticle is very limited, &, hard to hold speed on a big loop. Should have put the 40 in. only about an once & a half more weight, & 30% more power! You're gonna love this plane! ........ Geo.K.

i have a spare 46 bb sitting around and the lazy tiger sounds like fun. is this engine too much? i have only been flying for about a year and a half and love it. any tips about this plane would be great.

Hello,
I have an old thunder tiger lazy tiger p51 kit that I bought new a while back, I have everything necessary to complete it except for the instructions. I have been working on it the last few days and it is pretty close to done and I really need to know the cg point on the plane before I attempt to fly it. The plane will have a os25fx in it, if someone has had this plane and can help me it would be much appreciated since I can not find them anywhere I have looked so far.

not going to be able to help you with the CG but i can say that the 25fx will make it a leisure flyer. i had a 32sx with a mac muffler and it was just about a decent match.

can't remember the CG and the plane itself crashed right in front of the runway... was a shame.
