Hello all, Im going to purchase the above as an ARF as soon as its available from model tech.My question is I have a Zenoah G 23 that I picked up this summer for a good price and am wondering if it might be too much for this plane???

You will be really noseheavy with the 23.I had one year's ago when it was an A.R.C. and i had an O.S. 108 in it. There are probably better power to weight engines out there. It depend's on what kind of flying you want to do. Tim.

OS 120FS or the magnum 120 FS will be a good combo.

Mine really likes the Magnum 120 2 stroke I put in it. The Zenoe is too heavy. Put about any 120 to 180 2 or 4 stroke in it. The only gasser I might consider is the RCS 140.

I have to agree with the above posts! I had one with a G-23 in it and it was way too heavy for the power it produced! I have another Dragonlady that I'm going to put a MDS-148 with the new carb. Maybe too much power! But that is what throttles were made for. It is a beautiful flier though! Hope this helps!

I've got a friend that put a G-23 on his. It flew but it sure was heavy and it didn't fly with much authority. An os 108 will do wonders as will a 120 4-stroke. These will give you unlimited power if you need it. If you are wanting gas a 1.4 or 1.8 should work nicely on it. You can look at them at the RCS Showcase web-site.

I on the other-hand I like the G23 on the Dragon Lady Very much, What I find is some of the people using the G23 on the Dragon Lady use to big of a prop, I am currently flying a Joss Stik low wing which is the same size as the D.L. , I have the G23 mounted and it flys very well, weighs in at 10lbs 6 oz. I also flew the D.L. with the G23. Also some used the older engine which weigh more than the newer ones. I do not use the regular mount plate, I mount directly to the firewall and use a lighter aluminum muffler. The 15X8 prop works best for this plane, I moved the battery to the tail for balance, moving the servos would also be needed for the Dragon Lady, with the stick I did shorten the nose 2 inches, it is hardly noticeable, I would not shorten the D.L.. At flight speed it will climb out of site, it flys fine at half throttle. Take off is quick if wanted, just as quick as any other powerplant. It is not a floater, landing is easy but slightly faster, throttle control is used more than with a lighter plane, yes it will take some Pilot Skills for landing. I have no problem landing in short fields. Best of all I can fly it for a couple hours on a bucks worth of fuel vs what I spent feeding a 120 glow. You can lighten up the engine more if you use an electronic ign. but I prefer the regular ign.

But IMO the Very best Powerplant for the Dragon Lady is a .91 4 stroke, preferably a YS 91 , but the regular ones do great, Very light and responsive, not unlimited vertical but great flight characteristics.

It sounds as though the Dragon Lady equipped with a G-23 would be the ideal candidate for trying an APC 14x10 prop. It would have a good top speed then, if that is what one is interested in.

My plane of choice lately is an old DL with a 22cc Tanaka
conversion.
At 11 lbs. it flys great. In fact it flys much better than I
expected. (it was kind-of an experiment..)
Not "glow" type speed but I have been able to hang for a moment
and then torque roll wile tail slideing. :D
I have not seen a G23 on a DL but my combo has worked vary
well for me.

I have a Dragon Lady ARC I bought a few years ago before they quit producing them. Originally, they flew on a Maloney 100. On the front of the box my DL came in, was one with the Maloney 100 gas engine. You talk about bad power-to-weight ratio. It says you can use up to a 1.60 4 stroke. I have a Saito 130TD twin in mine and it flies very nice. It has plenty of power. However, the nicest thing about it is the 2 cylinders hanging out of the cowl and the sound is excellent. Boy does it turn some heads at the field.

Which size ARF are you picking up? They were made in 40, 60, and 120 sized a while back in as both ARCs and ARFs. They then discontinued all of them and a couple of months ago reinstated the 60 sized ARF. If you're talking about the 60 sized ARF, the G23 would be way too much (both in terms of power and weight) for the airframe. The DL is great. I had a 40 sized which flew wonderfully on a 46. I've been contemplating getting one of the new 60 sized ARFs because it really is a great sport model... For the 60 sized ARF, I'd go with either an MVVS 77 for a 2C or Saito 100 for a 4C. Anything more would be overkill.

Oops you guys are right, there's a 40 and a 60+ sized, no 120 size as I mentioned up above. Still wouldn't go with a gasser on the 60 sized...

f2racer - I don't recall seeing a D.L. 120 , The one I have and was flying was a 66" rated for .60 -120 or small Gas. I can testify first hand it Will fly on a Zenoah G23 and fly very well, I also flew it with an O.S. FP 60, A saito 72 , A O.S 70 4s, Saito 91 4s, O.S. 91 4s, and Magnum 120 4 stroke. The only ones I remember are the .40 and .60-120 size, Dosen't mean the 120 didn't exist , Just never heard anyone else mention it. I did a few searches and could not come up with any info .

As far as i know the D/lady came out as a 40 and a 60 size.
We are waiting on delivery's for the 60, as we speak. Apparently they landed in Oz a few days ago. I have had a couple back ordered for ages. Will let you all know what the new product looks like as soon as.....

Just to say the new D/lady's have arrived (At last). They are of course an ARC, built very, very well. The f/glass cowl is just superb as are the wing halves, fuz, tail feathers and.... did i mention they are very, very well built??!! Now, do we go with the twin or the .......

My LHS told me that they have one coming in Weds.,finally!!! But they only ordered one!! So I prepaid for it and it will be all mine when it gets here...LOL...Anyway someone posted using the RCS 140 for this lady..I have a G23 but the general concensus deems it being too heavy!! RCS list the 140 as weighing in around 2 pounds...Does anyone have any experience with this combo and can share some pros and cons....

What i have seen suggests a 1.20 4 stroke ala. OS pumped 1.20 or, a largish 2 stroke. In short the Moki is a wonderful engine.

I got one of the new Global ARF's and I have a Magium 108 on the front. It flkies great, lots of power and not too heavy, in fact I had to add nose weight. Super kit goes together very well and looks good. Several people at the flying field have ordered from ther LHS

I've got a Magnum 91 FS laying around and was thinking about putting it in this airplane. Any reason not to? I was thinking about propping it with a 15X4 or 6 and moving battery and receiver around along with servos if needed to get correct C.G. I enjoy aerobatics but from what I hear this is a good plane to actually "fly" instead of tractor around with a big motor. Will the Magnum foot the bill?

Hiya.
The magnum will do the job just fine however, i don't like the idea of the 15 x 4 - 6 prop. An APC 13 x 8 - 9 is the ticket.

We fly one with a Webra 1.20. WOW! It seems like too much engine but we've been flying it like this for years with no problem.
It's a big rugged plane and I think it is good with a 1.20 size glow. Stay away from those big heavy Gas engines though.
