How about the World Models Rambler 30?
Rick |
Hmm
Modeltech Cub...
Flies pretty good (had an OS-26 fs in it...) and has an inverted wood mount. Comes with covered struts, fiberglass cowling, and decent hardware... Hope this helps, james |
30 size ARF
If you want some excitement, try the World Models Sukoi 30. I've got one with an older  Enya 46FS on it. Its a good stable platform that will do anything, lands nicely, but a little faster than some due to the thin airfoil and higher wing loading.

In a previous thread about the Yellow Aircraft 30 sized planes, it seems that most folks said they needed a 46 to come alive. One fellow put an OS 32 in his and said all it was good for was flying around in circles! Ernie |
30 size ARF
I'm not sure about the performance with a magnum but I saw one fly with a saito 30, it wasn't gonna set and speed records but I thought it was a pretty nice combo. People who know me know that i would put a Da-150 on the thing hahahahahaha. But it depends on how you fly. you could even put on a piper cub.
http://www.towerhobbies.com/listings/cat-cat-a.html Go here they have some pretty small planes. Keep us posted on what you decide. Thanks |
30 size ARF
Thanx for all the replies..most of the 30 size planes are too heavy for a 30 size 4 stroke..like to have something in 3.5-4.0 Ib range, and can mounted inverted..I seen a Zen 30,made by World Models....can't find any info in regards to it...they don't list it on thier website...anybody know anything about this plane?..thanx again for the info....Merry Christmas

(run a search here at RC universe and the thread even tells which magazine and which page). They used an OS 52 four stroke on the Extra in that review and liked it a LOT! Ernie |

30 size ARF
I had a Magnum-30 FS in a Waco bipe that was designed for the Magnum 30 FS. Hobby People carries it. A little tricky on landing (ground loops) but flew well.

QM1usn
I just read the RCM product report in the January issue....seems as if it's a little squrriely on take offs and landings..He did make some modifications to cure some of the problems..Wonder if you could move the landing gear forward a little bit and maybe cure the ground loops..the model does look nice....thanx

I have the 60 size... I am going to order one of the 30 size... A friend of mine at the field has one. For $89.00 you can't beat the quality... I wouldn't recommend it to someone who is just starting out. It is a bit touch on the ground... You have to have rudder / throttle control. Needs to fly in "Not a trainer". Most who have it love the plane... Definatley an EYE catcher. If you type in 30 Waco in search here a bunch of post will come up... There is always someone who is not happy so read with open mind.

RE: 30 size ARF
I also have a waco 30 bipe, I had originally bought it for my son who is to busy to get into planes right now. I have to agree for 89.00 you can not go wrong on this plane. I am seriously thinking of buying a second one for a spare to fly after I have destroyed the first learning how to land it.:D

RE: 30 size ARF
You could also look at the World models combat series of arfs I have the spitfire and reaaly think it one of the most overlooked small arfs.

RE: 30 size ARF
If you are looking for a fun plane, you can consider the WM Cub .26 which I am using as my avatar. It's extremely cute and with that 4s sound, looks great on low passes

RE: 30 size ARF
Try Global ME-109, J-3 Cub or AT-6 Texan
Modeltech Extra 300 Thunder Tiger Lazy Tiger Cub World Models J-3 Cub, Extra Sports 30, Rambler 30, Zen 30 Most of these are 3-3.5 pounds |

Greg Another real cheap suggestion is the corostang. Its not an arf, but it builds real fast out of some coroplast Here's a link to a corsostang video [link]http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_1265286/mpage_1/key_corostang/anchor/tm.htm#1265286[/link] |
RE: Re: yellow aircraft
I have two of the Yellow Aircraft 30-size extras. One with a Magnum 52 four stroke and the oyher with a magnum 61 four stroke. First, the YA Extras are fairly tame extras, but they will come alive when POWER is added.
My YA 52 is an easy to fly airplane and will do many aerobatic manuvers but does not have unlinited vertical, also it will not lumchevac. My YA 61 extra on the other hand is quite a handful, I flattened the dihedral out (I'm not sure why), but it will perform quite nicely and will lumchevac and go into an inverted flat spin that almost does not lose altitude in the flat spin. It has alot of vertical and a great performer. I think it makes an outstanding aerobatic trainer airplane. I personally like the 30 size CAP 232 airplane, it is my favorite of the 30 size yellow airaft (I don't have it anymore due to pilot error resulting in unrepairable crash damage). Yellow Aircraft has high quality in there arf's, at least all that I have seen are good. |
