Agreed Sonnich. It will take a fair bit to beat the ESM/KMP ME109.

I have to agree with Sonnich and Woody. My apologies to you guys who like this new 109, but that has to be the worst attempt at a warbird ever! [:-] It simply looks horrible! (And it actually looks more like the Me-108)

Disclaimer: Yes, this is just my opinion and you guys may not like it, but if you guys are content with this new offering by VQ, then dont let me dampen your fun, and enjoy! ;)

Ok, flame-proof suit on! :)

Got any specs on it yet ?... Wingspan, engine, weight etc ?....

RE: 109 ARF finally!

All of VQ's single engine warbirds are stand-off or sport scale. And they look pretty nice as "representations" of ther real thing. And the main thing is the price point. For a couple hundred bucks you get a nicely finished sport model that looks very similar to the real deal.

Now yes, KMP/YT models are far superior in scale looks. And double and triple the price "to start". Don't forget, much more expensive optinal parts and engines as well.

Every model has it's niche and it's place. I welcome all the new offerings from VQ and others and wish them all success. :)

RE: 109 ARF finally!

thanks KMOT.... we respect all other manufacturers and thier price points... we try to fill the need for the modelers who want a nice looking and sport scale Warbird that is more affordable.... or want a warbird that they wont pucker up each time they take to the skies!

Here are the specs on it:

Wingspan: 60.6"
Weight: ~ 6.0 - 6.4 lbs
Engine req: .40 - .46 (2 stroke), .70 (4 stroke) Radio req: 5 channels, 5 servos (#5 is for retracts which are pre-installed mechanical retracts) The retracts actually retract outwards!!

KYOSHO is delivering Me109s as we speak.

They're 46 size and a bit lighter (about a pound) than the VQ. I just picked one up at the LHS and it appears to be just as sport scale. It was $150

RE: 109 ARF finally!

And the Kyosho offering looks better.
The best VQ around is their P61.

It happens all the time on this website. The experts are knocking a plane before anyone has even seen one in person. Atleast wait til the planes get off the boat before you pass judgement. Or better yet wait till someone actually flies one.

RE: 109 ARF finally!

Sorry Thomas, but I just coulnd't wait any longer... I just maidened my Kyosho 109 this past labor day and it flew very nice indeed. Used the Evolution 46 engine from my deceased P-51B R.I.P. Flew very nice indeed with no bad habits. Even the taxiing was easy with no tendency to nose over on taxi. I do have to say though that with retracts included, the VQ might be a better or just as good a deal as the Kyosho since the Kyosho does not come with retracts and I was unable to find a pair of retracts that retracted outboard toward the wingtip instead of inboard so with the VQ coming with retracts that's defintely a consideration for anyone who likes retracts on their warbirds.
:D

The KYOSHO is a good deal.
The VQ ia a good deal.

Looks like a win win for us.

If we want a 46size, the KYOSHO gives you that, and VQ gives a slightly larger one for just a little more money.

And I just got the 46size, but think the VQ just might look a bit better. hhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm Guess I'm gonna have two 109s some day.

Now wait a minute, I'll agree that the KMP Me-109 model looks very scale like, although in my honest opinion the nose seems a bit short. It has an absolutely precise tail and a few more minute details, which would be important in a scale competition.

However, the VQ models airplane still has nice, scale lines, a scale canopy, and other features. Also, give the VQ model some credit that you won't be spending far more, and the plane is in the .40 size range, in which few ARFs are very scale at all. (Which I don't understand, because as an electric model flyer, most planes I see are tiny compared to normal glow plane size yet even these can often look more scale than typical "small" glow models:eek:)

In any case, I'm a supporter of the VQ warbirds Me-109, and it will likely be my next plane!:D[8D]

Personally, I'm getting a little tired of Thomas (VQ) sneaking into my wallet........ He got me with his T-6 and now is reaching for the price of the 109........ Sport Scale is alive and well.. The pureist's will knock it, but it is what it is and I like it!!!!!!!
