Model Tech CAP 21 ARC
Has anyone built and flown this old kit. I have been given one without canopy or landing gear or most importantly manual or plans. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Model Tech CAP 21 ARC
They fly great but are "snappy". Seemed everyone in our club had one in the mid to late 80's. Mine had a Rossi 40 with Pitts muffler.
Like most versions of the CAP 21, it will get into snap/spin situations that will take more altitude to recover from than you have available. Great Planes used to sell similar size CAP 21 kits, perhaps if you are lucky you can find a canopy that will work. Gear should be no problem. It has been long enough since I had mine that I don't recall where the CG is, or contrl throws used. |

There were no plans with the original. Except for identifying the CG and some other important data, the manual was basically a two-page list of tasks (1. assemble airframe, 2. install radio; 3. install engine, 4. apply covering, 5. fly. ). If you do a search here on RCU for modeltech and "cap 21" you might find a couple of others who built this plane and who might still have the manual. I flew mine three or four times and sold it in the interest of life being too short. It had a tendency to snap and I just did not enjoy flying it. I had an os 61 fx on mine.
