RE: GP DR1 mods
I don't know how to find the thread either. I do remember the bottom wing center section being weak and some folks fixing it before it broke. I'm bidding on a GP DR-1 kit as I type.

RE: GP DR1 mods
That will teach me to advertise that a DR1 was up for auction. I lost the bidding. <G>

ORIGINAL: vasek I've seen a thread desribing some mods for this kit (beefing up the lower wing etc.)>but can't find it now... if you have the link PLS post it here thanks GP DR-1 Fokker set up & sugestions? http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=1428970&key= The only real mod I did was not use the CA Hinges i used flat pinned hinges ont the elevator and alerons and Robart pin type on the rudder and that is only because I perfer them, but many swear by the ca hinges... The main Mod is to the bottom wing. There is NO hard wood in the leading edge so when you catch a wing tip when the plane rocks side to side on a landing ( and you will ) it cracks right near the fuse. I have a second one and on this one I'm going to take a Dremel and carve a straight half circle line the whole length of the bottom wing and put a small carbon rod in there and then pull the covering back over it. I think this will be enough to make it solid. My first I didn't do anything to it and it cracked I just put some CA in it and it held... Definetly not the right way to do it.... LOL |
