Pilatus Porter ARF

FYI for you Porter Fans

Found a site in England that has a 52 four stroke size Porter. Shame no one has this plane here in the states.

http://www.moormodels.co.uk/acatalog/AIR_LOISIRS.html

According to them about $55 to ship to USA

RE: Pilatus Porter ARF

Jim, At the exchange rate, the total would be around $290.00 or so. Some of those planes are sold in the US as VQ- Models, I have the T-6 and it is pretty good. Just for drill you might check vqwarbirds.com. There is an e-mail address there for inquires, wouldn't hurt to ask if any of the planes there are/ will be available.....Cliff

RE: Pilatus Porter ARF

Thanks Cliff for the info. Sent Email asking. I have friends in Europe and they tell me the Porter flies great and is a decent kit.

RE: Pilatus Porter ARF

Jim, VQ is produced in Viet Nam, and mostly sold in Europe. It seems that there is a different selection of planes available to the European market. Tom, who is the retailer for VQ stateside is easy to talk to and seems to be interested in supplying a quality product. I have seen some VQ's mentioned in other threads that aren't available here, but I would assume if there was enough demand, a minimum economical amout, some of those not avialable would be.... Then of course an anniversry trip to Europe, and a special gift exchange....Hmmmmmm Cliff

We need a "sucker" and i've got just the fellow, his name is MormonMike. He's dumb enough to buy the Porter for the over-seas price after calling around here to make sure it's not going to be sold in the states...... only to find out a few weeks after he bought it, it's going to be distributed here after all. AND AT HALF THE D-MM PRICE !!![:@] I love Turbo Porters too but no , not this time, no more impulse-buying stupidity. THE END ![:@] MM.

I am in the same boat, RC Kit aholics. I know we would have a major membership. I am not showing my wife the suggetion for the trip to Europe for the exchange of a kit.

I have one of the original Altech, AKA MRC Porters that has after many years, 15, started to weaken in the joints. She is retired to a spot of luxury hanging over the bench keeping watch on the next build.
We dropped a lot of candy and towed a few gliders together and she never once let me down with a bad landing.

That is why I want another on.

I did find that OK Models Japan has an ARF Porter as well, about $450 delivered to the East Coast.

When is the first meeting [8D]

RE: Pilatus Porter ARF

You guys are making this very difficult for me to resist :(. I too had the Altech ARF and applied accurate FED EX markings [ cost to custom make- $200 bucks ] I was leary about flying it so I sold it to a fellow who assured me it would be " safe ''. Two weeks later he crashed it to a pile of bamboo balsa and mahogany. I went berserk with rage [:@] It still hurts after a few years. So for now, I don't know what to do. [ but you guys can post somemore info how and where to get this PLUS a few photos ] Untill then, I'll keep an eye on this post. MM

Here is the reply from VQ Models;

Jim Ogorek:
Thank you for your inquiry! We actually have had a small sample of the new VQ (same company as AIR LOISIRS) Pilatus Porter! We flew it at Bomber Field in June ! They are very nice models of the famous AIR AMERICA STOL PORTER! THey do not have flaps but they do have (2) Aileron Servos that can be made into FLAPERONS! Attached are the pictures of the model we have and currently fly with a 3 blade prop and a .40 2 stroke side mounted....This will fly the airplane at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and climb like crazy at full throttle!!
BTW here is a link to a Pilot who lives and bought one in Europe and then added flaps and lots of extra details onto it ...very striking!!
http://www.rcwarbirds.com/laurentpeacemakerpage.htm

If you and your friends would like to order them you may . The cost is $185 and you would need to leave a deposit of $50 for each plane. THe deposit will be applied to the Purchase of the Porter. The Pilatus Porters are scheduled to arrive around October with the next shipment of our WARBIRDS. We also have a new
ME-109 E COMING OUT! 60" WINGSPAN!
If you have any other questions let us know...and please share the pictures with your friends//

Thanks for your consideration!

If you are a builder MR Aerodesign in Canada, www.mraerodesign.com/ , has the plans and Lazer Lizard will cut it for you. He had offered to scale the plans to what ever size I wanted for the current price of the plans.

In addition, several bombs, napalm or rocket pods could be carried on four underwing and one fuselage hardpoint. !!!!!!!!!!
