Chinese Chipmunk

1 Attachment(s)
I got this on eBay 2 years ago, I bought one with a round glass fuse, this came. I finally put it together, it calls for a 40~46, so a OS 60 sounded good to me![:-] I have a Futaba PCM 5 channel in it, it called for aileron servos out in the wing and a central flap servo. I thought the flaps was a waste of time so I joined the flaps to the ailerons, and use one central servo to drive both ailerons.

Mine is the 63" span version and if your's is like mine, there was excessive slop in the torque rod channel. I could move each aileron about 3/16" without affecting the servo arm. Knowing this would give flutter, I cut off the torque rod threaded ends and installed 2 aileron servos. Looks like your wheels are far enough ahead of the LE. Mine were further back and until I bent them forward, landings and takeoffs usually had nose-overs. With an Enya 61, it has more than enough power. You should really enjoy it and it will last longer if you reflex both ailerons UP about 3/16" to lower tip stall. I don't understand why there was over 10 or 15 years for the arfs to come out as opposed to kits only.

This one is slightly smaller, ~59 1/2 inch wing span. It's funny I did just the opposite of you, it was setup for two aileron servos and I went to one to save a little weight, it was getting a little porky with the bigger engine, and it took 4 oz of lead in the tail to move the CG back to where I wanted it.

On Chinese ARFs I've found you're better off figuring out where it should balance, rather than using their CG. I have a 4M sailplane that I've taken 14oz of lead out of the nose, and I feel it's still a little nose heavy.

My Seagull Super Star they said to balance it at least 2 inch too far forward from where it should be, English is not their first language, and they probably where making chairs last year not airplanes, so the don't know what to tell you or how to tell you, I figure it out myself.
