RAF Chipmunk

Hello

I was wondering if an ARF RAF Chipmunk could be used as a low wing trainer?

For most intermediate pilots going from trainers to low wing, the aerobatic style planes are not the best choice. I'd suggest a constant chord low wing design like the Goldberg Tiger 40 / 60 or the Sig 4 Star 40 / 60. The double taper wing of the Chipmunk, Cap or Extra will be much less stable than the constant chord.

i got a friend who learnt to fly on a CG Chippie ... of course he was conned but the guy who taught him was a really good pilot and he did learn to fly on one. Still not recommended ... I say you can if you are really that good on your trainer but then you will risk stalling her as you are so used to something slow and may not judge the stall well enough.

Hi'
Ive found the Black Horse Chipmunk a great model to fly.
A friend of mine has only been flying for a few months on his tutor 40 trainer and he found this chippy no more
difficult to fly than that.

Flaps allow you to land at little more than walking pace too.
