Did you figure out a way to make the outer wing panels removable for transportation on the wheels?

I did.

The "manual" didn't even say you had to join the wings together.

OR ANYTHING ELSE for that matter...

bahamadude 11-30-2006 03:56 PM

RE: Cessna 310 Nice !!

I decided to glue them in.
I have a jeep so to transport is not difficult at all but please let me know how you done yet.

My buddies might be interested because there are 2 more that are being assembled right here at my local club.

Pictures would be nice also.

Thanks

RE: Cessna 310 Nice !!

I drilled holes in each end of each tube and into the underside of the wing panels. 4-40 bolts thread through the wood blocks and into the tubes.

That was easy...

Has anyone actually flown their 310 yet? I am concerned about the CG location at 6" behind the leading edge of that narrow wing.

According to several online CG calculators, using the measurements I took from the wings, I get 40% at 6" back.

To get 27% or so, it's 4.5" back and that means some lead in the nose, maybe as much as a pound.

Here's some photos. Excuse the blue tape holding the windows while the Canopy Glue sets up.

Evolution 61's, maybe 14.5 pounds, but that's a guess. (and no nose weight yet either)

havent forgot u guys videos coming soon !!

RE: Cessna 310 Nice !!

Not wanting to put all that lead in the nose of my Cessna, I pulled all 3 servos from the tail and reinstalled them on the servo plate that was already inside the cockpit area.

I should have done that to begin with.

I used HD NyRods to both elevators and rudder, moved battery to the nose wheel firewall and it balances perfectly at the place I calculated to be the correct starting point for the CG.

That would be 4.5 inches back from the LE at the fuselage, not 6" as shown in the book.

When we flew ours both setups were exaclty the same.

We didnt make any modifcations to the planes whatsoever and used evo 61's.

We added little nose weight not even a a pound. A pund sound a lot.

hopefull i can get the video added soon

Hey, BahamaDude, that looks a lot like my flying field!

Here's a link to my video of the first flight of my Cessna 310.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...93132309&hl=en

Evolution .61's provide plenty of power as you can see.

16.5 pounds and I set the CG at 4.5" behind leading edge.

(These photos are also cross-posted on the "twin engine" thread)

The plane looks like it actually flew pretty good, but I gotta be honest and say that was one of the hardest videos to watch I've ever seen.

RE: Cessna 310 Nice !!

My videographer is really good with a transmitter but not so good with a video camera.

Same goes for me!

But it gives you an idea that the plane does fly...

I have one of these NIB and have purchased a set of Spring Air retracts which I hope to modify to fit in this beast. I agree, she is a good looking plane, especially for the money.
