Very good question.....I have a few ideas, but no facts to back them up.
I too, would like a wee bit of inside info here...

Ant takers bold enough to let it slip?

This is from the K&W website and worth a peek! Quite the "factory" there in the Phillipines!

I think on Fridays they take a break from the tedium of model building and go out to chop balsa. :)

While visiting the AMA IMS show in Pasadena, CA I had the opportunity to talk with the managing director for C.B. Hobby House. They are a Thailand based ARF factory with impressive planes. They make some of Lanier's ARFs, the Cap, Edge, etc. They also make the Wild Hare aerobatic plane.

Their web site is www.cbhobby.com. You will see their line of direct sales products, however, their commercial catalog available at the show did show many well know ARFs in their factory. Quite nice too, I might add.

I had a great talk the manager about Bubba Spivey. I asked him how was it to negotiate with Bubba, all he could do was smile.........broadly!

ARFactory

Damnathius,

I like the third photo of the guy with the chain saw cutting the balsa. He must have been the same guy that cut the wing joiner and firewall on my latest VMAR !!

Seeing the chain saw explains everything !

I'd still like to see what's in the factory glue pot?

Yeah, no kidding Joe! I think he also cut the 1/4" spars in my Nieuport 17 kit, and had a hand in the die cutting!

danmilo, now I know who actually makes my LanierRC 1/4 scale Extra 300L. CBhobby's EXTRA 300/S-120 looks just like it, except I like CBhobby's covering scheme a lot better.

I suspect the H9 1/4 sccale Cap 232 is also made in Thailand, judging from the Thai writing on the packing slip pasted on the factory brown outer cardboard box.

VQ ARFS

VQ ARFS (like from Morris Hobbies) are made in Viet Nam.

Hope that doesn't bother any veterans...

Here is a shot of the CB Booth and what I would say is the Wild Hare in a differrent covering layout.

The guts. Nice laser cuts, CNC foam capability. Not bad.

Lanier's 3rd scale Laser 200 is made in China. (It has "Made in China" decals applied in several places) The model is very well made and flies well but it bothers me that I thought it was made somewhere in South Carolina.
The guy making it was probably working under slave labor conditions and the profits going into new technology to improve their ICBMs. As Lenin said, "Capitalists will sell you the rope you hang them with." Enjoy!
