I think I got the over heating issue solved today. I flew the plane without the cowl and it was fine. I cut the slot I had under the spinner a lot bigger plus I richened up the high end 1/8 and it seems fine now. It was pretty cool today so we'll see what happens when hot weather gets here.

That looks better. How do you like the engine and plane?

It's a Rascal. Second one I've had and just as good as the first. The engine has plenty of power so with the problems out of the way next time out is time to play.

Thanks for that photo Mr Moose. Being at SEFF I supose they were all electric. Did they all seem to have enough power? Brian

Got a Rascal 110 and flew 3 flights last week and another 3 yesterday. Flies loops, barell rolls and stall turns great. Rolls(axial) suck it wanders all over, I will try airl. dif. next time out. I tried coupling rudder but it didnt help....Anyone have any suggestions except my learning to fly? I am having a ball with it anyway and am not looking for a perfect roll but want better. My engine is a Syssa 30 cc gas.. plenty of power...... I was wondering if the smaller airl. on the flap version is the problem... No posts for a while on the Rascal hope they pick up I think its a great airplane but the price is hard to deal with....Thanks, Jim

Got 3 more flights today and found if I slow rolled the Rascal the rolls were very good but if I were to try 3 rolls at this rate it would pass thru a number of zip codes. also discovered it will land without bouncing if elevator is released as the wheels toutch.....Used to land Aeromasters this way and it works great on the Rascal 110. I dont know about everyone else, I am having a ball with this plane and each outing is better......Take care. Jim

Your just learning what Rascal owners all over the place know. Got my first one about 6 or 7 years ago and now have 4 of them. Put a nice set of floats or ski's under it and you have the ultimate all around airplane. ;)

Sounds like you are having fun. How have you hooked up your Syssa engine? I know Syssa sells the battery eliminator circuit module. Just wondering how many batteries you are using?

I went with the Syssa battery eliminator. It works great, and I'll be using more.

My setup is two 2100 Li-Fe's on a Specktrum powersafe Rx.

Overkill, I'm sure...

I have an original Rascal 110 still in the box. I plan to use a DLE 20 for power, but I bought the Syssa battery eliminator too. I will be using one Life battery in mine.

I have a pair of 1/4 scale sig cub floats that I have considered fitting to the Rascal. I also have 2 unfinished planes to finish details and paint and I'm not sure what will get done first.....Have a great one...Jim

Has anyone got, or know of a source for, a three-view of the rascal in electronic format?

I know it doesn't have as much power as the gassers, my rascal is going to fly with the ASP-160 twin. I love the twins - the sound, the lack of vibration... Should be great for lazy acro.

RE: Sig Rascal 110

Since the Rascal is an ARF, most likely the only source would be from Sig Mfg. Talk to Mike Gretz.

You will enjoy the 1.60 on your 110. I have the OS on mine with a 16-8 Biela. Plenty power for everything but a dangle.:)

Zippi, would a Mintor 22cc gas engine fly the 110 Rascal? When I get older I may need too get one. A large slow flying airplane may be the ticket then. I think a lot of 110 owners ....quit the full aeroabtic thing long time ago. Ha !

Capt'n,

Like my wife tell's me, "your not over the hill your down in the valley". That Mintor 22cc should be fine. There are guys flying them with the DLE 20cc and they do great. We have a retired fellow in our club flying his with an old OS 120 4-stroke. He bought his Rascal 110 and OS 120 4-stroke back when the Rascal first came out years ago. He didn't put it together until we had our first Rascal 110 fly-in 3 years ago. He keeps saying, the instructions say a typical 120 4-stoke so that's what I use :)

Yes the Valley...I see it coming soon! Ya know then 4 cycle engines do have a more pleasant sound...perfect sound for a 110 !http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f.../thumbs_up.gif Capt,n

Flew my Rascal 110 this past weekend. Despite blustery conditions, it did fine. Gotta mix down elevator into the flap channel. Without that, it'll climb like a homesick angle.

Power is a Syssa 180HP with a Vess 18.5 by 5.5 prop.

Here's a video link to the first flight on the plane. Me flying, Rick Cawley is doing the video.

Looks like it flies about like mine (same power), except I wouldn't have had the guts to maiden in that wind.

Takes a while to do a roll, doesn't it.
