Hi Folks,

I am preparing my aileron pusrods. To determine the proper length the aileron must be centered. Here is my problem.

If I set the aileron so it follows the shape of the bottom of the wing the aileron ends up sticking up when compared with the airfoil shape of the top of the wing. If I position the aileron to match the slope of the the top wing the aileron then extends downward when compared to the slope of the airfoil of the bottom of the wing.

Can someone provide me a vertical measurement from the inboard edge of the aileron to the bottom of the fuselage so I can set the aileron position properly. Please indicate if you are measuring from the top or bottom of the aileron.

I just put a clamp on the end of the wing and aileron to keep it from moving, then measure it. You normally have a threaded end on one side of the pushrod for any final adjustments.

In this case your suggestion doesn't help because the aileron is full length. But thanks anyway.

I need a UCD owner to provide me a vertical measurement from the inboard edge of the aileron to the bottom of the fuselage with the airplane turned on and the ailerons in the neutral position.

What I did was sight along the center of the wing tip and center the aileron along this line. I feel the exact measurment you are looking will vairy from plane to plane once trimmed out in the air.

I own and proudly fly a U can Do. The clamp method is what I actually used. The clamp goes at the end of the wing clipped across the thin gap between the wing and aileron.
it is simple and works.

Thank you for your help. I misunderstood your first post. After re reading the posts and looking over my wing again I realized what you were telling me applied to the UCD. Sorry about my confussion.
