Horny Hinge Points??

I was looking to find a stronger hinge point that had the control horn attached to the hinge point itself. Robart only has the hinge points but I thought they made a "Horny Hinge Point" as well. Anyone know where I can find the hinge point and control horn all in one??? 3/16 hole with 1'' to 1 1/4 horn. Thanks

I still have a few of them... Robart used to sell them but as far as I know they stopped makeing them a few years ago.... Not aware of any other manufacturers producing anything like them...

I spoke to Robart yesterday and they confirmed they no longer make the horny hinge. They also said they never made the 3/16 or super hinge in the horny style. The photo shows what CMP is including in their 140 size Giles 202. I like the control horn on the hinge point I just dont have much faith in stock control horns and hinges.

RE: Horny Hinge Points??

I did a quick search on Google.

There are a few places that still have them.

My search was "horny hinge point". They're listed at the first web site under pacer/robart.

Example:
Pacer/Robart
ROB, 5893600302, 302 HHP4 HORNY HINGE POINT (4), $3.60. ROB, 5893600305, 305 HP6 1/2A HINGE POINT (6), $2.15. ROB, 5893600306, 306 HP15 1/2A HINGE POINT ...
www.happyhobby.com/hobb_html/pacer_robart.htm - 53k - Cached - Similar pages

And there are several others.

The Robart site doesn't show them, but that doesn't mean they don't have them.

RE: Horny Hinge Points??

Not that anyone asked for my opinion, but...

Back in the 70's there were a couple of guys in our club who loved hinge points...but they found that the horny hinge points can rotate if the pushrod has any significant amount of angularity. Also, the push / pull load is not distributed over a very large area, and if they're going into foam, the holes get wallowed out.
Guess they still use the regular hinge points, just use more of them than a regular hinge? They use control horns with a relatively large mt. plate though.

horny hinges

I just spoke with Robart in regards to Horny hinges. They told me that they hadn't had them for over ten years. I mentioned to them there seems to be several people asking about them. He said he would bring it up to the powers to be and that he also had some requests for them.
