Advantage Moki

Have a problem!

Just bought brand new moki. All set up on test stand. Fuel tank centre line with level with carb feed, No Nitro Fuel 20% Castor. Back preasure from BCM Pitts Muffler.

Can get the motor to start but it will not run at any throttle setting for longer than about 45 seconds. Even if I adjust the mixture richer/leaner it quits. If I leave the glow on it lasts longer but eventually quits. I have tried everything and it's really starting to ................................well I don't know.

I am very disappointed with this!!!. I was under the impression these motors were easy to start and ran sweet. Even my old OS 46 bushed motor ran in better and gave me less trouble.

Any help or advice appreciated.

thunderbolts,
I am certainly no expert nor do I own a Moki but I seem to remember reading here on RCU that you really have to "run these engines in". So maybe you should leave the glow connection on for a longer period of time , longer than you think you should, then let the engine run. Someone will dismiss my suggestion I am sure, if it "can't hold water"... Good luck.

RE: Advantage Moki

Well guys think we sorted my 1.80 Moki. Phew!!

Fresh fuel and a new "OS F" Plug. Primed her up and got her going after a few flips with the needle at 2.5 turns. Ran on the glow clip for 2 mins then removed the clip and upped the throttle she ran rich but kept going. Then as the manual suggests gave her full throttle and immediately slowed the motor by richening the mixture. I got to around 4 turns out she was still running.

On closing the throttle the motor continued to run very rich but reliable. I even got a fast idle out of her even at that really rich setting.

Looks like it was the plug to me because when I replaced the original I started with the cut out problems again.

Thanks for all you help. Won't be long before the Moki is purring on the stand!!! Maybe after 2-3 gallons

Patience is the key!!!

The OS plug is good but expensive. The K&B 1L runs just as good and is only $2.75 US. That's a great engine.
