It looks cool. I would love to have one for my os 52 surpass. I wonder if it would accept micro servos?

RE: nitroplanes edge540T 52"

Don't know, I guess it would if thats what you want to put in it.
I should get mine at the end of this week.
I'm thinking about hanging an OS 55AX on mine.

RE: nitroplanes edge540T 52"

That sounds like too much motor to me. Let me know how big the servo bays are when you get it. If they are standard or smaller. It would be cool if it was set up for Hitec HS 225's.

I let you know as soon as I get it.;)

The other engine I thought about is my Saito .56

I have a habit of over powering everything I build.:D, you know the "Tim Allen" syndrome. lol

The rest of their planes look much heavier. This one looks to be light. Ready to fly at 3.6 lbs.

time will tell. It suspiciously looks like a Kyosho plane

same plane built at the same location as kyosho boxed to read nitro models.

They are listing the weight a lot higher. I imagine the price too.

RE: nitroplanes edge540T 52"

It lists as 3.6lbs/2400grams...2400 grams is about 5.3lbs.

RE: nitroplanes edge540T 52"

Yeah I noticed that too. I just got the destination conformation for mine so I will post what I find as soon as I open the box.

I have never done a review and I was not asked to do one for this plane but from what I can tell all a review is, is an honest report of what is there.

I have only built about 25 arf's and about 4 kits so my opinion will not be an expert opinion but I think it will not be a beginners point of view by any means.

RE: nitroplanes edge540T 52"

Well it's here and it looks flawless! The box label doesn't match the contents, and the manual is for a different EDGE. (.32 size ZIVKO). LOL.

It is going to be an EASY build and if it flies like it looks, well, WOW!

I'll post some pics if anyone is interested.

The bottom of the plane was kinda bland so I added some checker board, what do y[img][/img]a think?

RE: nitroplanes edge540T 52"

O.k. The flight pack is installed and the graphics applied. On the scale with out engine installed it weighs in at 5.3 lbs. Heavier than advertised, (suprise). I have a Saito .56, Tower Hobbies .46 BB, Super Tigre .51 or an o.s. .61 fx. I can feel my "Tim Allen" syndrome kicking in and I think I am going with the .61. In our higher altitude here the added h.p. will help.

The o.s. looks like it will fit "in cowl" so it should still look clean.

Can you tell us what the sleeve for the wing tube is made of? The one in thier Yak 52 is very thin cardboard, and I curious if it's the same on this model.

Tks.

allied 01-27-2007 07:20 PM

RE: nitroplanes edge540T 52"

There is no sleeve for the wing tube going through the fuse, built into the wings it looks to be a paper & some kind of resin material. Maybe a papermachet I am not sure.

RE: nitroplanes edge540T 52"

O.K. for whoever cares, The maiden is done. I went with the .61 fx and it did fit in the cowl. Finished and ready to fly it tipped the scales at 6.8 lbs. There was no CG in the manual so I set it a little nose heavy. Throttled up and away she went. Uneventful, it tracked straight, ended up with incredible verticle (go figure), like the roll rate on high rates but painfully slow on low rates, it will snap very fast, it lands at a comfortable pace and predictable at low speeds, meanig it drops like a rock. It will knife edge for days. Not all that impressed with this edge. It does look great in the air. The tail feathers are too small for this plane. I think they just recovered some from the .30 size plane to match this color scheme. Oh well, there it is for what its worth.

Allied, hey I like what you did to the bottom on your Edge. I flew my my 25/32 size one today for the first time and it flies pretty good. It has the same construction as yours, looks like they just scaled the plans up a bit to make a larger size plane. Mine needed to be flown to the ground too, first flight I slowed it a it too much and it dropped like a rock and bent the LG abit, which is a pet peeve of mine in that all these planes the gear is so soft or I'm landing too hard, but can't be the case every time.

RE: nitroplanes edge540T 52"

Hey Oberfeldwebel,
Could I talk you into measuring the span of the horizontal stab on yours, I have a hunch that the one on mine is the wrong size.

RE: nitroplanes edge540T 52"

Allied,

I just measured mine. A rough 15" span

allied 02-07-2007 01:02 AM

RE: nitroplanes edge540T 52"

Thats what I suspected, Nitroplanes has packaged the same horizontal stab in the .40 size, it is just covered to match the plane. It is way too small for this plane.
