bipe recommendation for a 1.20

Looking for a bipe, the bigger the better (wingspan) to match up with a 1.20 four stroke.

RE: bipe recommendation for a 1.20

Well, the Great Planes Tiger Moth is 71" wingspan and calls for a 91-4s so with a 120 it would be a blast, I don't know if you're into "Golden Age" airplanes though.

http://www.greatplanes.com/airplanes/gpma1330.html

Another option is the Great Planes Super Skybolt ARF which is smaller at 57" wingspan, but a friend of mine has one with a Saito 125 and it's amazing.

http://www.greatplanes.com/airplanes/gpma1242.html

Yet another option is the World Models Ultimate 120S which is even smaller at 54" wingspan and calls for a 120 4 stroke. It's not very pretty though and I'm not sure about quality.

http://www.airborne-models.com/html/...p?ProductID=29

There you have 3 options so far :)

Cox is offering the Pica Waco. The thread here says its really nice. The 1/5 scale has about 6 foot wingspan.
Or, the GP Stearman and the PT17 both have 6 foot wingspans. I am doing a Stearman this winter.........be advised it has some warts,ie: bad wrinkled covering, hinge slots miscut, shipping damage like cracked cowl and wing braces. And some pieces are mislabled so the top wing doesn't fit till you get that one figured out. And the plans are wrong on the aileron linkage layout. If I had it to do over I'd buy the Waco for about the same money.

Oh there's also the P-6E Hawk from Great Planes, 76" wingspan

I have the Cox/Pica but have not started to assemble yet. The quality is excellent and there is a good thread here on the assembly.

The Goldberg Ultimate is a good choice for the 1.20. I think it's the best flyer also. At least IMHO.

I don't know why the WM 1.20 was stated as not being "pretty"...

It's not bad.

I also picked up a Nitroplanes Ultimate 1.20 and I am in the process of building it.

Some of the hardware could be replaced, but the plane itself is great for the cost... (approx $189.00).

I'm putting an O.S. 1.20 FS III pumped in it.

The Skybolt ARF is smaller but has a really nice covering scheme. I have a 2 stroke .75 in mine.

RE: bipe recommendation for a 1.20

Wanted to give this thread some new life. The CG Pitts has my attention, but just read the thread on it and didn't see positive comments in regards to it flying with a 1.20FS. I like the wingspan on it though. I would rather the bipe not have flying wires or a two servo elevator setup. Thus far, I also like the Cermark Pitts but my flying buddy already has one which I've flown and it flys sweet!! The GP Super Skybolt is also nice just wish it had more wingspan. Oh also,,,this ARF should be priced around 350.00 or less. Am I asking for too much??

Send help,,,thanks,,

Has anyone seen this: www.wonderhobby.com.

Their Christian Eagle (down around midpage) is priced nicely, but their product description is rather vague??

This is the best 120 bipe you can find with $225 if you don't mind ARF made in china.

cruzomatic,

This is a little bigger than you wanted but it's a Pitts and you did say "the bigger the better".

The GP Super Stearman is on my "next purchase" list. I just bought their Giant Aeromaster for my G62 Lite (thanks, Ralph).

The Super Stearman (or the military version, if you please) is designed for a 1.20 four-stroke, or so I believe. I'm thinking of installing my Saito R3 1.70 in the nose. That might make a nice home for said engine.

The C-H-R-I-S-T-E-N Eagle appears to be the China Model Products ARF that AK Models was selling a while back. I still have mine NIB. It might go up for sale on eBay soon, but only because it is too small for the engine that I have in mind for use.

Hey guys, I've since changed my mind on engine selection since I started this thread. I know have a Mag .91RFS that needs a home and wanting a bipe.

i have the yellow world models ultimate 120, i personally think it looks the buissness, and with an OS surpass 120 pumped flies like a demon, really recomend it...........this is mine, sorry it doesn't have the cowl fitted as this was just before first flight........

Given that I'm just finishing mine with the same engine inverted mount, I'd like to see what you ended up doing with the cowl.

There are two model airplanes that I just can't get enough renditions of. One is the Piper Cub and the other is the Ultimate Biplane.

Now I see I will have to buy World Model's version of the Ultimate too. I'm running out of storage space! <G>
