When will the madness end????
I just ordered the Top FLite 310 (got it for $450.00 from tower) and the new 1/6th Cox/Pica waco..... I need to seek professional help! Just waiting in the que are KMP B-25, GP Superskybolt, KMP 109, H9 GS P-47, WM GS Zero, T-Rex 450se, CMP Hellcat, Aerotech GS Stearman with OS 5 cyl radial, Cmp Mosquito, and on order Airworld Me-262, Kmp Stuka... somebody help!!! What I need is an apprentice who does nothing but assemble these Arfs while I slave away all day.

Your list looks like you are as bad as me when it comes to getting new planes (52 complete ones and more to come)- ain't it great buying the new ones!
I found an advertisment in one of my LHS's for a bloke that will build planes for a sensible cost (including ARFs). Best thing I ever did - he builds - I fly and it isn't all that expensive in the overall scheme of things. |

It (the madness) will end when you find the cure for the addiction of model aviation - to which I hope you keep that to yourself!

The best cure for this addiction is to go to the LHS with a bunch of cash, (Or a good Credit card), look at all of the items and try not to buy any. If you fail and end up buying something, you are obvously not cured so you will have to try again sometime:D

Some people collect postage stamps and pay thousands of dollars for one that you can't even send a letter with.
Others (Like my missus) have horses and pay a small fortune for each animal each year. Others like to drink a lot every night. We just like to collect planes Well that's my justification anyway (Just don't tell the missus it's flawed - she'll breed another horse or buy some more tack and that could be one less plane for me:)). There's never enough planes and certainly never enough servos or engines. |

I have a que thats getting longer and I also need to find someone to do my building for me. I am lucky to have a friend that I pay for my giant scale stuff but I need someone know for all these electrics and smaller glow planes that are piling up! |

Prior to returning to flying, I worked as a professional model builder. We would build 1/43 scale race cars for teams, drivers, and discerning collectors. A lot of the stuff was so nice that I built a piece or two on the side for myself, or I'de trade for one. Once I got started doing that, I kept building, and then I added a nice diecast or two......................anyway, I've got about 500 really sweet race car models I would love to blow out of here and turn into airplane money.
I'm not really a collector........I'm just greedy. :D In the old days it would take so long and it was so much work to put a nice plane together that I would stock up. I'de get one built up and I'de test it a few flights and then mothball it for when I would need it. When I started pylon racing, sometimes I could get half a season without putting a scratch on a plane, and other times I would trash one the week before in practise, and then go to the race and trash two more. When I was racing for the SEMPRA championship there was no way I could risk running out of planes, so the house was full of identically covered Scat Cats. So far, I've resisted the temptation to buy a lot of airplane kits because they are expensive and take up a lot of room. Since I'm no longer competing, I sure am tearing up a lot less gear, so I don't need to stock up. Still, right now I've got 5 flying planes, and a backup kit in the closet for each. What's nice about how things are done today is that you can crash this morning, go to the LHS and pick up an ARF, and then be flying again before sunset. There's really no need to stock up because you can have a new one ready in such a short tim. If you wreck, there's never a need to panic. In my case, open the closet, drag down a kit and get busy. But, that's why I keep so many in the closet. As my friend Rich would say, "You need to buy and build more planes. You're only 5 crashes away from being out of business." |

Oh, the madness will end all right! It will end when you have retired and are on a fixed income. That is when you will realize you can't work overtime anymore to buy all the toys you want. Reality will hit you up side the head and then the madness will come to a screeching halt.

If you start to smoke your planes or take them intravenously then you've gone to a bad place.
Selling your body for an ARF fix I believe is still socially accaptable. At least, we won't judge you. You're among friends here. :) |

ARF, ARF, ARF, EVERY WHERE AN ARF. Why don't you try to actually build something and have a lot more fun. You don't need many kits in your collection to have a lot of actual building time and fun ahead of you. Instead of being a model assembler, be a model builder too.
