Isnt a ARF a kit that was built from a company that built it and covered it. So wouldnt that make a ARF a kit that you basicly bought from someone built ?--just a idea--its bugging me.

are they really pro's or is is it a assembly line when people glue one pice in and it moves on and the next person glues another piece on, thats another think Ive always wanted to know.

I highly doubt that most companies would pay the price a pro would command. It's most likely the cheapest labor they could find. It may even be automated at this point (the technology is certainly there). Seeing the quality of arf rise so dramaticaly in the past few years leads me to believe its some sort of automated assembly line/jig. Just a guess though...

I think your right. about the riseing prices, well, I have built most of my planes in the last year and I have even designed one to fly this weekend I hope.

One that would make Henry Ford proud. If it isn't made here in the states, you can bet this company has a hand in it. They are
Sanye Machinery Co. in China. I got these pics from their website.
Check out those five cylinder engines they assemble. Can't make
out whose brand name go on them, though. I know they make
ASP engines, and maybe even RCV's engines:

I'm sure many of the ARF's are built by cheap labor... But so is the computer you're typing on, the TV you're watching etc.

I'm sure a master kit builder could build a kit better than some of the ARF's, but I'd like to see them do it for what the ARF's sell for. Plus, I imagine that the assembly lines have jigs and such to aid in the assembly tolerances.

Ya--every thing you buy is that way---but I just wonder--ya know---all we are doing is buying a plane that a person built for us, only it was a assemb. line instead of a single guy. I personally would rather build my own, that way i know its done right and not done by some people i dont even know much less never meet. plus--i have fun building and learn. no if only i could get a kit build it, and then have it covered--I hate covering.
