ARF Decals?

I like to personalize my ARF warbirds so they don't look like everyone else's Some ARF's come without the decals and marking applied and some do. It has been a lot of work to try to remove them without screwing up the finish.

How would you prefer the ARF's come?

Why would you care if it looks like everyone elses ARF? It is just like everyone elses ARF.

RE: ARF Decals?

Let us all start over and answer the mans question. For any of you ARF manufacterers who may be looking in, I prefer to apply my own graphics regardless of weather they are kit supplied or I supply my own. In the case of war birds, they often are wrong (USAF in WWII, as an example), wrong colors, sizes, or applied in the wrong places. These things can really set off a plane, if done well, even if it is not scale in other respects. It is a simple thing that is just as easy to do right as wrong, IMO.

Stickbuilder,

Why would you care if he wants to customize the look of his planes?

Not only leave the stickers off, wouldn't bother me if they'd leave the covering off as well. Then you could really personalize it.

WACO= Weaver Aircraft COmpany. They stand on their own without stickers; two wings and round engines are all they need.

This is a bit confusing... You by an ARF Warbird but you want to put the stickers on yourself so it doesn't look like the warbird since everyone elses looks like the warbird...
All this time I have labored under the impression when I buy an ARF Warbird it is supposed to look like the warbird.... Live and learn I guess :D

I want everything possible done to an ARF when I buy it I want to FLY it. If I want SCALE or something unique or one off;I BUILD. a ARF is a ARF no matter what you do with decals.

RE: ARF Decals?

I prefer the no decals applied route with a decal sheet for one scheme in the box. The manufactures could then sell as an accessory various marking options to give us the most choices, similar to what is available in the plastic model sector. I realize there are lots of aftermarket vinyl decals available but they're expensive. I'm guessing Great Planes or Hanger 9 could crank out sets similar to what is included with the ARF for around $20 and realize a little extra profit. (Either way they need to ensure that US stars and bars are the correct shape and colors.)

I'm sorry I confused you. I mean you can set up the warbird with different squadron markings for different combat areas (Pacific or Europe) Either way, it's still a warbird. I am a crew chief for a full size FM-2 Wildcat. We painted in Atlantic coast color scheme (Gray and white) instead of the more common dark navy blue. Just to be a little different. I hope that helps you understand.
