Problem with H9 Cap Vertcal Stabilizer

I have two H9 Cap 1/4 scales. The 1st has been a dream and went together without a hitch. Well I have hit a problem in my second. The vertical stabilizer does not fit the slot in the fuselage. I compared the two planes. The fuselage slots are the same on both planes. However, the vertical stab on the second is about 5/8" too long, nose to tail. Wonder if anyone else had this problem and if so what you did? I.e., did you cut the stab or lengthen the slot in the fuselage. thanks.

I did not have that problem, but if I did I would check to see how much rudder throw I would get depending on if I altered the stab vs. lenghtening the slot. I would think that making the slots longer would be the way to go. Daz...

Trimming the vert stab would not effect rudder travel. The trimming would be on the leading edge. If something is not trimmed you cannot get the vert stab mounted flush with rear of fuselage. Wildthing trimmed the stab, but I'm thinking that enlargeing the slot is the way to go.

What ever you decide - and it is not critical- just make certain you get a solid bond of the horizontal stab to the fuselage - -don't guess here - I have sen two of em come apart - One had been thumped a lot first - but still this joint is really only on the bottom so get it solid!

H9 Cap Vert.

Splais, how long is the verticle stab and the slot for it ? Mine are both 4 1/2". I had to remove the small piece of balsa at the end of the fuse in order for my verticle to slide in!
