Ok... I need to know how to mount the servos to get the elevators mermaid to go in the same direction... Does that make sense, or do you need more info?

RE: Showtime 50 Servos problems

RE: Showtime 50 Servos problems

Yes, it is a PNP radio and I am talking about the elevator servos. Thanks for all your time and help!

RE: Showtime 50 Servos problems

do u have the elevators pluged into 2 seperate channels into your receiver? do not hook them up with a y-cord. as long as you have them on seperate channel chance the direction by using the reverse servo feature on your radio. do u know were that feature is on your radio?

RE: Showtime 50 Servos problems

I am using a Y Cord. What should I be using? What separate channels do I use? I already tried the reverse feature, but I did it while using the Y Cord.

RE: Showtime 50 Servos problems

you need to have a receiver that has enough channels for you to do the following:

1-throttle
2-ailerons
3-rudder
4-elevator
5 gear or a spare to use for elevator
6-flaps to use with channel 2 to control the left and right ailerons seperate

u cannot do the reverse feature on a y-cord and
I would not advise to use the reverser that many crashes have happen from (its a product that will allow the servos to be hooked up to a y-cord and will allow u to reverse one)

Thank you! So what would you suggest I do? Do I need to buy new equipment to have this work, or can I do it with what I have? Let me know! Thank you!

Read your radio manual and see if it supports dual elevator servos. If not, you'll have to get a reversing Y harness. This is a special Y adapter that changes the direction of one servo. It does create an additional potential failure point but it may be the best option you have. Tower Hobbies has them with both Futaba and JR style plugs.

Hi Ecuyer7

I can't help getting the feeling that you are very new to this hobby as I read through your posts.
Please be aware that the ST50 is NOT a model for newbies. If you have never flown please get yourself a trainer model and join a local club to get help. If you are a newbie you wil stand little or no chance of getting the ST50 to stay flying long enough to get the feel of it before it crashes.

If i understand right you csn also turn one servo 180 degrees in its mounting hole and that will reverse one of them...

This will not reverse it,since the servo still rotates in the same direction .:eek:It will only move the control horn either closer or farther away from the control surface. If you are using 2 elevator servos, you can either use a reversing Y-harness or use 2 seperate channels on your radio,if it is capable of doing this. You can also use 2 different brand servos as long as they rotate in opposite directions when
controlled.such as a JR and Futaba servo does.
What brand radio is it?PNP radio does not tell us much.Need to know what brand and series it is.what servos are you using.
A little info can go a long way in helping you.:D

RE: Showtime 50 Servos problems

I suggest that you refer back to the manuel that came with the Showtime 50. Hanger 9 goes thru great lengths to provide excellent directions with their ARF's. I am sure that if you read you will learn. To get both servos to run in different directions using a y harnes, one servo has to be mounted with the pivot shaft facing the front of the airplane and the other servo with the pivot shaft facing the rear of the airplane. One servo arm would have to point up and the other servo arm would have to point down.
You would have to make two different size pushrods and make sure that you use 440 rods and hardware.

RE: Showtime 50 Servos problems

I just finished building my Showtime 50. I would STRONGLY suggest that you do not use a Y harness or servo reverser. If you do not have enough chanels on your reciever, get another one.

Also, the Showtime is a HIGHLY aerobatic aircraft and takes a high skill level to fly. As Piro stated, you would be better off getting a trainer, throwing your gear in that and fly that for a while. Then when you are ready, you can put your gear back in the Showtime.

Also, When building the Showtime, make sure you re-inforce the main langing gear. It is very weak. I pulled mine off on a landing a couple weeks ago and took out both wings. No pretty....but I will be airbourne this weekend again! :D

RE: Showtime 50 Servos problems

Hey guys,

Just to make myself clear, when I mention Y harness I am not refering to a Y harness with a sevo reverser. Although I have used servo eversers with no difficulty, I have heard of a few horror stories from other flyers. I myself much prefer to use a computer radio of good quality, 7 channels or more and use seperate channels for each half of the elevator. I use a Futaba 8UAF radio which allows me to program in the right channels.
