85 Degree Mechical Retracts
Yo People,
I'm going to start this thread to see if there an interest for a 85 degree retract. I've been in contact with www.3dxhobbies.com who make a nice rugged mechanical retract to see if they would build me a set of 85 degree retracts. As of now they only make a 90 degree. From what I've read, these seem to be very good mechanical retracts. There was a review a while back and here's the link http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/a...article_id=686 I need a set of tough retracts for my H-9 T-34, because we fly from a very rough and thick grass field. Any interest out there? I know Robart makes some gear, but I don't want plastic bodies. Also I need a 105 degree nose gear that is mechanical. It seems to me that there would be a large need for this angle of retract, seeing all the war bird arf's on the market with dihedral in the wing! Any thoughts people???? |
RE: 85 Degree Mechical Retracts
I know I always need a good set because I do mainly .60 size warbirds. If they want a real hit have them make a set that is 3/8 or 7/16 strut ready. Or better yet 7/16 because you can sleeve up to 7/16 from 3/8. Also th biggest gripe in the .60/120 size ARF market (which is huge) is that the retracts are always weak. Heck I need a set for my Sea fury right now.

I agree with you, there seems to be lack of stock retracts!

I don't like 85's. Tried them once and removed them. I use 90 in all mine.

The guys at 3Dx, make me a set of 85 degree retracts. So those of you with T-34 Mentor, P-51's, EMB 312 Tucanos or Warbirds with dihedral in the wings, can now get a proper looking gear! I"m really satisfied with what I see, but I haven't had the opportunity to test them out, as I'm not done with my T-34! If you do order from them, make sure you specify 85 Degrees! I'm now trying to get them to make a 105 degree nose gear! 90 degree nose gear look awful! |
RE: 85 Degree Mechical Retracts
Any luck with the 105° nose gear? The Hanger 9 T34 Mentor nose gear is really weak. I've had it collapse on me several times when I hit holes in the ground (I fly off of grass).

No, luck yet!
Kinda of put this project on the back burner! Might switch out to www.lado-tech.com retracts for the mains! Still looking for a 100 degree nose gear! |
