pane for .40LA

I have a .40 LA that needs a home. I was thinking for some war bird and came across the Phonix strega http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXGGM2&P=ML. It is in the price range I want to pay (no more than $100). and does not seem too heavy. What do you guys think or recommend. If I get it from Omni models it will be $90 shipped to my door.

Does any of you have converted en electric to gas? this might be another option as there are quite a few decent electrics for less than $100

My friend has a low wing Sonic made by Phoenix. It is considerably under $100 (from Tower) and is an excellent flyer. Although the plane is for, I think, a 25 engine, the 40 LA is a light engine, and a mild engine. This combo turns the engine into a real performer and he has had the plane for a long time. Think you would be happy with this combination. Good luck.

I've got a 46LA in a Thunder Tiger Lazy Tiger 51 and I love it. Looks like a Mustang but with a LOT of wing area. Floats like a trainer, spins like an aerobat and tumbles like a (tumble)weed. For just over 100 bucks, it's been a great plane. I had a 40 in it for a while but I wanted to go with a little bigger 3-blade prop. the 40 did just fine with a 10X7. Really a fun plane.

If you're into kit building, I always thought that the Great Planes T-craft would be awesome with a 40 or 46LA.

Good choices. the Mach-2 flies great with a .40-LA

the 40la is not enough engine for the strega. a 46 ax is a good choice for this plane.the above choices are excellent for the 40la.

humm.. the LA flyer and LA racer look pretty good, but weight almost as much as the strega. what makes the strega not a good candidate? I am considering the sonic because I have a $20 off cupon from tower which will bring it to $63 delivered to my door, pretty good deal.

not enough poop for the strega. i have seen 1 with the 46ax and it flew well. i have a rossi 46 on mine and it is pretty fast. the 40la will fly the strega but the performance will be marginal.

The skyraider is listed at 5 pounds but mine came out a 4.5 pounds and that was with a heavy Supertigre 40. Probably be close to 4 pounds with a 40LA.
