Tiger 120

Hi all,
Just purchased a Tiger 120. A little problem that I hope you guy/gals can help. The instruction manual recommends a 90 to 1.20 two stroke or 90 to 1.80 four stroke.
But their website (Carl Goldberg) says 70 to 1.08 two stroke. So I purchased a Super Tigre 90 two stroke. Though I've been told that a 90 two stroke would be fine, I've been having second thoughts for a 1.20. All I could find is an OS 1.20 which would cost me $220 more then what I paid for the Super Tigre. Is it worth the expense for a little larger engine. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Happy Flying.
PS: Tower Hobbies also recommends a 70 to 1.08, which I believe was probably a CUT AND PASTE from Goldberg’s website.

Moved to General Engines forum. This is not a SuperTigre engine.

The .90-size engine will work, especially if you can keep the model as light as possible. Otherwise, you'll need a larger engine, but the SuperTigre G-90 is quite powerful for its size.

Say there Mr. 'Bax'. Why was this thread moved from the Beginners forum? You say it is moved to the engine forum but now it is in the ARF forum? And why was my response deleted? I thought it was somewhat helpful at least. Is it because I included a link to a competitor of Tower/Great Planes/Hobbico? That seems rather petty. I was just suggesting trying a Magnum engine as a cheaper alternative to O.S. So what's the deal?

I just bought a Tiger 1.20 ARF. I'm still debating which engine to install. I have considered mounting my ST G2300 up front, just for kicks. But I'll probably go with a 26cc gas engine, such as my RC Ignitions G26 Lite.

Moderating is a payless job. It would be good if we all kept that in mind.

No answers from Bax. I guess it's; "Its my forum and I make the rules, so there." Well, can't argue with that.

RE: Tiger 120

I have a Super Tigre .90 on my Tiger 60. You may have to add nose weight to your 120 to get it to balance. The Tiger 60 ARF's require nose weight if they have 2 stroke instlladed in them. If you have to add weight, add a bigger engine. You won't regret it. Thunder Tiger has a 1.20 that runs pretty well. There are other 1.20's as well.
