Nitro Models

Greetings ARF gurus,

I have been looking at NITRO MODELS of late. They seem to have some very good prices but I am not familiar with that company. [sm=spinnyeyes.gif] If any of you have bought these models and would care to comment on their quality, please do. Some of their prices seem to be in the "to good to be true" catagory and I am kinda of leary of the product:eek:.

Thanks
Sonnytex

Just make sure the good price is for the CMP plane and not a copy. OHYA also you might want to order from AK-Models.
Do a search on Nitroplanes You can read for days.

RE: Nitro Models

Most of there planes are VERY good but as with anything there are always a few caveats.

- Manuals are very basic.

IMHO you should have 2-3 prior ARFs under your belt before you tackle a minimally documented plane on your own. If you have access to someone more experienced use them to help you out.

- Covering

The covering used does NOT hold as well as Ultra/Mono coat when exposed to fuel. Trim tends to come off. However there is a simple fix for this...
Use a plastic kitchen dish pad, and go over the Chinakote. Then spray it with Top-Flite CLEAR Kote a couple of times. Go over it again with the pad once dry.

The covering will dry to a shiny dull finish which looks great and keeps fuel from seeping under the trim. Once done the trim stays put.

- Hardware

Some people have badmouthed the hardware provided. It's not better or worst than that provided with most inexpensive ARF's. You should always opt to change out anything you may think suspect.

- Re-inforce

As with any ARF INSPECT AND RE-INFORCE always. For big tailed planes, CF rods work wonders. Expoxy in additional hardwood gear blocks as possible.
Epoxy/CA exposed wood joints as possible.

- CMP kits.

Those sold as CMP kits ARE CMP kits. Note that NP also has a few less expensive knock offs, but they have phased these out.

- If you have a problem

PM Nitroplanes HERE first. "John" answers PM's and is fantastic in dealing with errors, replacements and parts issues.

TLH101 & OPJOSE,

Thank you both very much - I think all my questions about this company have been answered. The NITRO thread was great TLH101, I must take more time to look for my own answers before hitting the whole community.
:D
