Seagull Superstar help

1 Attachment(s)
So I finally started to put my SS together and am confused about the tail strut assembly. I can't get the 3X30mm bolts to fit into the nylon clevises. I've tried drilling one out but amost destroyed it and still the bolt won't fit. What did you guys have to do to get it to work?

The one I built I did away with their ugly setup and used Kevlar string from the hole in the stab by the hinge line to the front hole on the vertical fin, from the same hole in the stab on the bottom to a screw in the bottom of the fuse. A 100% improvement in looks, and plenty strong.

So only one support on each side? What did you use to anchor the string on the vertical fin? And where do I get kevlar string?

Setup like this:

The kevlar string I had, I'm a sailplaner at heart, but you can get it here:

The string will probably hold 200 pounds, so the balsa in the tail will break first.

You could probably just take the kevlar string a round toothpick at the vertical fin and stab and wrap the kevlar around a small screw, (servo mounting screw), and that would provide enough support. I had everything on hand so I used it. The plane looks great except for the UGLY tail bracing.

You know to add the LG fix? and don't have too much elevator throw or it will drop the left wing. It's a fun cheap airplane.
