GP Spacewalker Question?

I have purchased some equipment and planes from a fellow and one of the items was a GP Spacewalker 79" NIB. Also there was an extra used wing for the plane. The used wing is 79", as per the specs on the box for this plane. But the wing (new in box) after assembling, was 82". The ailerons are 1 1/2" longer as well. Both wings fit perfectly onto the fuselage. Just wondering if the 82" wing is an upgrade from the original spec advertised. Anyone know what's up?

 Bought mine 18 months ago, the wing is 82" with the plastic molded tips.

GP Spacewalker Question?

Thanks Stick jammer. I was going to use the older wing first but now I don't know, seeing how its smaller than the new wing. It will have different flying characteristics. I was wondering if this was a change in the wing from older models or if this is a deferent wing all together. Did your specs say 79" wing span??
Thanks again for responding Sick jammer

GP Spacewalker Question?

Hey guys watch the landing gear on these birds - has shortcomings in the strength area.

 Yeah, the specs had the wing listed at 79". As Cubman mentioned, make your landings nice and smooth, the gear isn't very forgiving. I've had no problems with mine, but have seen others that did.

OK, nice and smooth. No prob:stupid: Have you guys changed the landing gear, or do you just live with it?

I kept mine, as I said, I've had no problems yet. This bird likes to float, on fairly calm days I'll chop the throttle to idle on the down wind leg or it won't be slow enough to set down.

GP Spacewalker Question?

I did away with the stock main gear. I don't like wing mounted gear in general, and I wanted extra ground clearance anyways. I mounted a set of shortened GP Giles 202 gears on the chin block, which has been reinforced with ply plate and fiberglass.

I had a Magnum 120FS all mounted, and I now decided to put my Zenoah G23 on it instead. Converted to CH ignition, the G23 actually weighs no heavier than a typical 1.20 4stroke glow with motor mount.
