H9 P-51 C.g. ?

I am just about done with my H9 P-51 ARF. I have a Saito .91 in the nose and used a lighter than stock engine mount. It appears as though it is somewhat tail-heavy even with the battery behind the firewall. This is checked without any fuel in the tank. H9 recommends 4.75 inches aft of the wing/fuse junction (most forward section of the wing center section). How far aft are you guys running your cg's? As it has a nose-over tendancy a slightly aft cg may help I have been told. I hate adding dead weight (and so far never have had to)...

Thanks

I agree with the slightly aft CofG. Mine tips over 95% of the time. I should probably angle my landing gear forward. You threw out the stock retracts, right?

Where do you fly? I'm out at 107th.

I started mine out with the CG set at 5 " back and it flies really nice. Only have 5 flights on it so far, but nose overs have not been a problem at all. And, inverted flight requires almost no elevator input for straight and level. I'm very pleased with it.........RS

Toucano,

Yes, I got rid of the stock retracts and fitted a set of Robart 608's. I am flying out of Pratt's Wayne Woods - I got out for the first time this year yesterday and today with my TwinStar. Looking forward to flying the P-51! Thanks for the info.
