Crash Nextstar

I have a Nexstar aircraft that I would like to take all the components out and add it to an ARF aircraft. Which one out there will suit my need? I am looking for one that has the less mechanical changes.

Sig LT-40 the best trainer without a doubt. Make it a tail dragger and it's the perfect trainer. As you get better just increase the throws, it will become you favorite plane.

Did you ever notice how when you flew the Nexstar slow with the nose high your ailerons stopped working? It doesn't happen with the LT-40.

The Tower plane is good too, no LT-40, but one of the better trainers. I'd pay the extra money and get the best. I don't like the Avastars or RCM trainers types, stick with a plane that has a flat bottom wing for really good slow flight. If you've gotten almost to soloing maybe a big UlgyStick type plane, big planes fly better, big light planes fly best.

Thanks for all the info on selecting the aircraft. I'll look at them both and then decide which one. This will be my first one putting together.

I think you will find the LT40 superior to the Nextstar in sturdiness?

Yes, and you can make it a tail dragger using DuBro plastic main gear easily. The nose wheel is 90% of the maintenance on a trainer, get rid of it, you get rid of 90% of your troubles. The Nexstar can't be converted to a tail dragger.

My LT-40 is a tail dragger naturally with a OS 52 engine.

It was originally nose wheel with a Tower 46

I put 13~14 engines on my LT-40, my favorite was a Saito 50, like the OS 52 a perfect match.:D For two strokes I liked the OS 40 LA the best, the OS46 was good, but the LT-40 is a plane that likes to fly on the wing not the prop. I had a OS 61 FX? in it, it took off in 3 feet, went straight up out of sight, but I killed the feel of the Kadet.

Yes, I actually didn't like the Tower 46 on the LT-40. I always thought the engine to have enough power to tear the wings off. (I wasn't enjoying flying that fast) and with the throttle back a little the engine had a rich midrange. It was frustrating. So I change the engine. It was a bolt in swap. The mounting holes were the same.
