I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about the new Great Planes UCD that is coming out. I am thinking about getting one. Does anyone have any thoughts on how a Saito 72 would fly one?

About a month ago, Tower Hobbies told me it was scheduled for late-May release. They also gave me a stock number "GPMA1269", but so far there's no info or pictures on their site.

Very cool! Note the much-lowered horizontal stab; I wonder if that will cut down on the knife edge coupling that the big one has.

So what do you all think about putting a Saito 72 on this plane? Do you think it will have enough power to t-roll, harrier and such?

I spoke with Great Planes reps and Don Anderson himself about the new UCD at Toledo. Looks like it could be a winner and we are anxious to do a review on it to let you guys know how it fares compared to its popular big brother.

They do expect them to come in sometime in May so it should not be too much longer.

I am thinking either OS 70FS, Saito 72 or YS 63.

Sweet. I have a Pizazz with a 72 that is about to fall apart and I want a replacment plane for the engine. I will probably end up getting one of the UCD's if I can find one. Cause I am sure they will be in high demand.

I also like the raised turtledeck vs the bigger one. A slick way to preserve all that side area and the bigger plane's handsome looks. Looks like the canopy from the US+. Also looks like a fairly large prop on the plane; ground clearance definitely won't be a problem. Judging on my experience with my bigger UCD, I think this plane could redefine what we can expect in 40 size performance.

I agree with that stab position, this should fix all the problems of the big one.....

I think we can all agree that a major improvement of this airplane over the 60 sized is the trim scheme! Forget how it flies, who cares about that?? :p

I like the UCD trim scheme. Much better than those clear schemes on other planes. Brilliant idea, take a wild plane and cover the wings clear so you'll really have no idea what direction it is going.
