ORIGINAL: justinkserv Just bought Han 9 Hellcat and was going to put OS91 in it .Now the engine mounts at a 45 deg angle inverted .My question is if you have had experience with this plane what the heck did you do for a muffler The P47 was the same way up front. The usual way is to put a Pitts on the sucker and live with it. I've got a couple of round cowled 60size with OS91s in them. All but the P47 have the engine at 9o'clock with a pitts on it. They all had room enough that the heads did not stick through the cowl. Only openings were for the glowplug and the muffler pipes. The P47 on the other hand was done just because I was tired of buying Pitts mufflers and not using the supplied muffler, which is supposed to be worth a fair piece of change. The OS91 muffler is a long sucker. OK, it's a long blower. And I wound up having to create room for it in the forward part of the fuselage and into the lower fuselage bulge that's added to the lower center of the wing. It was worth the effort. Once. I'm doing a H9 Corsair now and have the engine at 9o'clock and a Pitts on it. |
RE: Hanger 9 F6F Hellcat
I have a H9 AT6 & H9 Corsair = Pitts muffler. (sometimes you have to close off one of the outlets on a pitts to get proper tank pressure) I did on the AT6 but not the Corsair. Don't know why because they both have a .61 in them.

RE: Hanger 9 F6F Hellcat
DOES ANYONE HAVE THE KIT PLANS FOR THE F6F HELLCAT ?? I HAVE THE 60 ARF(EXCEPT FOR THE FRONT 10 INCHES WHICH WAS LOST DUE TO ASPHALT RASH ! I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO REBUILT IT TO ORIGINAL SPECS OTHERWISE.
WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE SOME ASSISTANCE. THANKS, HARVEY |
RE: Hanger 9 F6F Hellcat
For all who have flown these H-9 warbirds, I'm wondering how my saito .82 will fly them. It will turn over 9500 rpm with a 12x8 3 blade, a 13x8 or a 14x6.

RE: Hanger 9 F6F Hellcat
REXRACER, I flew a H-9 AT-6 with a Saito 82 and I could easily keep up with my buddies Corsair and Mustang with OS91 4-Strokes. The only thing is that I could not fly as large a loop as they could till I used up about half the fuel. Actually I could have used a much smaller fuel tank that the stock one and still fly 12/15 minutes with plenty in reserve. I used an APC 14x6.
