Anyone else?
One overcast day a week ago i was flying my hobbico avistar and decided, "How high can i go." so i went up and up until the plane was nearly a dot in the sky, and then the weirdest thing happened. It completely dissappered. immediatly i reduced power and the plane eventually returned into visiblilty and relized what had happened. i must have gone into the cloud layer! when i went back home from the field i turned on the weather channel and checked the cloud ceiling. 1200ft- man thats high. Anything like this happened to anyone else?

RE: Anyone else?
Well, Maynard Hill is a member of our club.
He took his RC plane out one day, and it landed in Greenland I believe. Of course it this was purposely done, to try to set a record... He's also played with long duration and high altitude flights... In both cases the plane is well out of sight... heh. He's spoken about this at our club meetings. RE: Anyone else?
Im friend once lost his plane when he went to high, then the motor stopped and we still could not see it, he just stood there tapping up with out knowing where it was, during the week he went door knocking and asking if people had found a model plane in thier paddocks, about 2 weeks later he was getting up the cows one morning and he found it in one peice in the middle of the paddock, it landed between trees perfectly with no damage, there was some bite marks on the fuel tubing from rabbits, that day he found it he took it back up again. Very Lucky!

RE: Anyone else?
I decided fly on the iced over lake one day and the fog was very low. I made a left bank to come around back to me and I lost the plane in the fog about 50' up. Kept it banked and didnt move my thumbs and just imagined where it would end up and left off the sticks when I thought the plane was coming towards me. Two seconds later it came through. I got lucky that time.

RE: Anyone else?
I once specked out my electric "miss2". I guess I was probably 1000ft or so up. I must have been in a thermal as the plane was climbing with no throttle. At the time I thought it was cool, but as I think about it now, probably not a good idea. ;)
