ok been into rc trucks and cars for a while...but decided to add another type of vehicle to my collection....been watching people fly planes when i am running my truck at the park...so i am thinking about a plane....i have got to looking on ebay and found some ARF.... they need servos radio and engine....i have seen good deals on them....[link]http://cgi.ebay.com/40-61-J-3-Piper-Cub-RC-Plane-Trainer-Airplane-ARF-Kit_W0QQitemZ140196817564QQihZ004QQcategoryZ19164Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem[/link]

what would be a good but fairly cheap engine????

Good radio???

and servos???

want reasonable prices so if i dont like it i wont be that far in.....
i am aware that i will crash this plane but i figured if i have the engine, servos, and radios.....so i can find another ARF kit like this....

any help would be HIGHLY appreciated

A plane like this is a gamble. Sometimes the no-name stuff turns out to be really good, other times it is a nightmare. Generally the airframes are OK but hardware and instructions are terrible.

I'd recommend a trainer airplane from one of the more established companies. for a good list, check out http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_4537845/tm.htm

You can get a good deal on an almost ready to fly trainer, complete with engine and radio. Tower Hobbies has a good one for $259 and they are also available in the Hobbico brand, Hangar-9, Sig and so on.

A Piper Cub is a good full scale trainer, but not a very good RC trainer. You need a specifically designed RC trainer.

These are good trainers and if you search, you'll find more. You never know what you are getting from eBay in the way of Almost Ready to Fly planes. Some of the kits are really bad.

Here are some good links to trainers:
